I actually did well at NCU. Passed the comps first try. During my Dis I class they changed my chair twice, the second chair quit. Following the advice of those to chairs I submitted my concept paper only to have it not only rejected, but the comittee told me that virtually everything the first two chairs had said was wrong.
Then with the third chair I made it clear that I would do whatever changes that were needed, I had no ego involvement. This chair gave me yet different instructions (different from the first two and different from the campus comittee). She refused to give substantive answers to my questions. Some questions she would not answer at all. On more than one occaision she gave direction that was contrary to the campus Concept Paper Template. I finallly requested a new chair. The campus took less than 24 hours to deny that without explanation, then since my new chair had been denied, the current chair stated I had been 'disrespectful' and threatened to charge me with a code of conduct violation. I have never been anything but respectful.
At this point I contacted the deans office and my advisor. It seemed possible that getting threatened with a code of conduct violation for requesting a new chair amounted to student intimidation. My advisor then stated that accusing my chair of student intimidation was in and of itself a code of conduct violation.
I have heard countless others with the same complaints. But NCU is in an ideal situation: if you drop out or flunk out then your complaints don't matter, you are just whining because you could not cut it. If you do graduate, you are not likely to publically ridicule the school you got a degree from.
I am withdrawing. This is complete insanity. This university is all about profits and does not care about students. If you go there, I pity you.
