Northern Leasing Hounded and called us for years, accepted forged signature on contract, never used machine and returned it. Golden, Mississippi

Several years ago my husband started a small business with a partner. It was a carpet business.  His partner signed a lease with Northern Leasing Inc. and forged his name for a small device to use as a credit card swiper.  It was never used, as the business never took off.  The partner was disolved, the machine returned, store closed. Ran out of a garage from then on as a father and son business.  The calls started.  The letters started.  For years now this company has hounded us with daily calls and letters. How do they get your addresses when you move? 
They sent us a letter that they were suing us in New York. How are we to get to New York from Mississippi?  Next thing we know they claim they got a judgement.  How?  Does the judicial system in NY not understand that people in MS cannot just jump and run to NY?  We are now receiving letters that they want their $1,411.60 or they will levy our Bank account, and put lien's on property.
We need help.  I thought they were in a class A Lawsuit?
Any advice?
