Sunday, November 8, 2008 This company picks up your personal belongings and transports them to a new home, and unloads them at your new location. They also re-assemble furniture items. I found Oasis Moving & Storage on the internet after researching many moving companies through Google. When I first phoned them, the customer service rep was really nice and seemed genuine in meeting my personal needs as well as my budget. I have a bone disease, and anuerysm. I can't drive or lift things, this being the reason I needed someone to move me. I am also on disability income and was moving to community housing in Missouri. Natalie Simmons was the customer service rep. When all was said and done she quoted me a final estimate of $1,260.00. It was for 2,200 pounds. 3, I realized their might be extra weight, but nothing to worry about. I was moving into a 1 bdrm apartment. I had very little furniture and boxes. You were required to pay 2/3 of the amount before pick up and the other 1/3 at the delivery location. They only accepted a postal money order? The movers arrived at my storage facility on Saturday, July 26th. They were not in a company truck, nor did they have uniforms or ID's. There were 2 of them, only 1 spoke english. Immediatley, they sat me down with a box as a table and handed me alot of pages of documents. While I was filling out the documents, I noticed that they were un-packing items that were in little boxes (taped shut) and putting them in extra large boxes. I questioned them about it because I didn't think it was necessary and I didn't want to incur any extra charges. They told me it was required by the DOT. I told them that Natalie said nothing about this. Their response was that "she just does the booking, she knows nothing else!) They charge you by weight, distance and number of boxes. I was in northern Arizona, 89 miles north of Phoenix. When they were done, they gave me a final ESTIMATE of 3,500 pounds! I was shocked and protested the amount. They said "don't worry, when we get back to Phoenix and go over the scales, you will get a call with the correct weight." The call never came, ever. I had told Natalie it was to be delivered August 1st or 2nd. She agreed. I already had an apartment, and my sister was to receive the goods. They took her phone number and said they would call when they were 1 or 2 hours out. They did not come? I tried to reach them. They are closed on the weekends and they have NO VOICEMAIL? When I reached them on Monday, they were rude and evasive and said they didn't know where my belongings were at that time. They would find them and call me back. They never called? A week went by and no news. I had a flight to Springfield scheduled for Friday, Aug 7th. I had to go and fortunately, my sister lived only a half a mile away and I had a place to stay. I still have no clothes and an empty apartment. I thought perhaps my things would come that weekend, Aug 8th, or 9th. The weekend passed, and no calls, no personal belongings?? I kept trying to get a response from them, but nothing? On Saturday, Aug 15th, they called me and said they had my items, but I would need to pay an additional $1,921.17 I got really upset with them. I told them they knew I was on a limited income and had I known it would cost that much, I wouldn't have done it. I never got a weight ticket from the truck scale. I still haven't gotten one. Now, they started their scam. Monique was screaming so loud over the phone that my sister sitting in the same room could hear her. She was nasty, intimidating, and rude. Then she said, "Ok, here's how it works. You either pay the amount by the end of the workday or we will take your items back to Arizona. Charge you a re-deliver fee, and daily storage until you can come up with the money. What will it be?" She hung up on me. It was already noon in Las Vegas. I was devasted, scared, and they were attempting to extort money out of me by holding my belongings hostage until I paid the money. My sister didn't have that kind of money. My parents are deceased. I was in a real panic. Fortunately, I have a friend in Arizona that had the funds and I frantically called her. She paid the money. They were to arrive at 2:30pm Missouri time. The driver called me at 7pm. It was raining and dark. I told them I didn't want the things until in the morning due to the weather conditions. He told me it was now or never or I would be charged extra for them having to sleep overnight in the truck. We went down to the apartment and met them. One would bring in something, then the other or both at the same time. The carbon copies were barely legible and it was all too fast (they were tired) to check off the items. My mattresses were wet from the rain, due to a big hole in the trailer, so I went home with my sister for the night. The next day, I began unpacking. There were so many items damaged, I couldn't count them. My 6' entertainment center was trashed. I have pictures of everything on my computer. There are also missing items. They could care less about that. In closing, I just want to state that there are over 100 other victims that posted all the same stories. I can't imagine how many there really are out there. All over the US Google, ripoffreport.com topix.com It's in black and white This company should be shut down. The continue to commit consumer fraud, extortion, no accountability for losses, and un-professional business conduct. They are crooks, and need to be stopped.
