Every time I leave this store I feel abused and like I was treated poorly. Today was the last straw. I went in for a receipt reprint because my receipt couldn't be copied for the rebate. The ink was too light on it. I waited for almost 15 minutes for Briana the store manager to come to the front and help me despite the fact that I had called 30 minutes earlier to let them know I wanted a reprint. Finally I asked the cashier if maybe I should come back. He responded that Briana was trying to call someone in so she could go home. I don't consider this a valid reason to leave a customer standing at the front of the store for 15 minutes!Especially on a day when there was only 3-5 people in the whole store! I Told Briana that I needed a valid reciept that was printed for my rebate and she said she wasn't sure if it would work. I'm sorry but I wouldn't have bought this computer if I couldn't get the rebate. that is why I bought it. I asked her if she would write her employee number on the receipt and she told me no. I'm not really sure what writing her number on the receipt would hurt but she flatly refused to do it. I am very upset and disappointed by the way I was treated while making this $700 purchase. I am a student and this was a very large purchase for me. At this point I just want to return the whole thing and go somewhere with more professional employees.

Some possible solutions they wont tell you about...

The multiple rebate/original receipt issue has been an ongoing problem with Office Depot (OD). It is known that many companies will only accept an original copy. Some people think this is a way to curtail rebate follow through, as most people will just give up.
What OD can do for you is offer you the journal tape copy, the printed duplicate of your receipt, on a huge roll replaced daily. Additionally, the store manager on duty has the autherization to give you a cash refund of the rebate amount, due to customer satisfaction, up to a certain amount right there (about $50, but is suggested by the store or district manager.)
Most stores have a assistant manager that is the person who deals with rebate problems and should be your go between to the rebate company or OD company. They'll be able to either have the rebate company accept a faxed copy, or they'll have OD give you the amount as a discount refund. Might take a week or two, but there's always a solution.
If you happen to get a very unwill management team, ask for the district, or regional manager. NOTHING envokes fear in a store than a customer talking to the people in the suits. Things will happen quickly, I assure you. And you can go up the foodchain if you need to. And, If you really have too, call another local store for this information (and please explain, you just need the number, and it's not for that store. No need to scare another store, and they'll stop trying to convince you to talk to a manager first to discuss the problem.)
As for being accused for stealling, the most they should have done was either, talk to the cashiers before approaching you, or make up a casual excuse to stop you without any embarassment. One good way is to ask you to see your receipt to make sure the information printed upon it is legible and official enough for your rebates. This does not accuse you of anything, seems helpfull to you, and anyone seeing this altercation, will only see "excellent costomer service' instead of a police action. They can also just let it go: No one is required to stop anyone from exiting a store, even if they SAW anyone stealing.
