Since then i tried to return it and they wouldnt take it since they dont sell that chair anymore! they were clearancing it out since they KNEW they were shit!
They told me to call a number about getting a refund, i ended up being redirected about 5 times, before finally a "manager" told me he would send me the refund in the mail.
NEVER RECIEVED IT AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET AHOLD OF ANYONE AGAIN!
THE PHYSICAL STORE LOCATIONS ARE ABOUT AS WORTHLESS AS A SACK OF SHIT HANGING FROM AN ELEPHANTS PENIS.

It depends on the integrity of the manager

1. There are many returns done on chairs for legitimate reasons and they take about 3 days to process from the manufacturer. Understanding of the process is vital. They ask the receiving manager (or any manager and supervisor) to destroy the unit and send in a fabric sample and a upc if availiable. I was a manager and was able to fix broken chairs by replacing parts from old chairs (and thus making customers happy).
2. In chairs, the added warranty takes in to effect only when the chair's actual warranty expires ( this will be the least portion of the warranty - 90 days for the leather). They will try to repair the unit, (which is why I kept so many parts from old units) before they will replace the unit. Eventually the warranty company will send you a gift card for the original price of the unit.
3. If you just go to the district manager you will be better helped usually.
If you want to still have a conversation with any supervisor or manager, ask them what happened to the "Just say yes program".
if this still does not help you post again with some more specifics.
Oh, and something else... no matter what company - enter in mail-in rebates at your own risk.
Lastly, I was not the norm at OfficeMax, I know how to return items that would not affect the store too badly ( and knew how to train), I also trained my associates to make sure we were selling the correct item to the circumstances of the customer. I left for a cubical job as retail is very tough (no work life balance).
If you have any questions about OfficeMax post it as a complaint, I will find it eventually.
This is not a reason why Office Max would refuse a refund. When something is "clearanced" it stays in the system for years. As an employee you have the ability of returning anything that had been previously clearanced. Most likely, you tried to return it well outside of the 30 day return policy. Also, I have worked every black friday since 2001, and every chair we have sold was of good quality. Good quality for an office chair for $29. You get what you pay for.
However, if the manager offered you a refund and told you he would mail it to you, you are due that refund. You should follow up with the manager on the location of your refund, or call 1-877-OfficeMax if you can't get help through him.
