We sent in ALL the information that OfficeMax wanted in order to receve our rebates. This was back in February, 2005. After repeated denials from them as to receiving the UPC code for an EPSON STYLUS CX4600 -- of which we have sent to them twice -- we took our receipts, UPC, and serial numbers into our local OfficeMax in order for them to resolve these issues. This was on the first of May, 2005. Still, nothing was done! (They OWE us a $50 and $30 rebate, plus a $20 Gift Card.)

We were PROMISED to at least get the $20 Gift Card by May 11. They are NOW claiming that we should receive it by June 9! We are obviously skeptical as to their claims.

Furthermore, we submitted a $30 rebate to Epson which was supposed to be a manufacture's rebate. EPSON has denied responsibility for the rebate and stated that OfficeMax was processing the rebate internally. Repeated inquires to Maxmyrebates.com (an affiliate of OfficeMax??) have resulted in outright denials of any knowledge of such a rebate!

On May 16, 2005, we e-mailed OfficeMax at rebates@parago.com and attached the UPC that they requested. Hopefully, we will get results from this. But past failures by this company causes us to file this report.

OfficeMax Rebates are a RIPOFF!

Rebates, Rebates, Rebates! did not follow instructions properly

AUTHOR: Clint - (U.S.A.)

I see people here on Rip-Off Report complaining about Rebates all the time. In EVERY single case, I can guarantee you they got denied because they did not follow instructions properly and provide all the verifying information required to get the rebate. All rebate houses have very specific rules they require be followed to process the claim. Some require you to circle the item on the receipt, some do not. Some want the ORIGINAL UPC code off the box, others accept a photocopy of it. Failure to "dot any I or cross any T" will produce a denial. I have, in my retail career, sent in what seems like hundreds of rebates, and I have YET to have one denied.

When I worked for OfficeMax, I had angry customers come into my store all the time because they got denied for a rebate and wanted me to give them the money right then out of my registers. I'm sorry, folks...it doesn't quite work that way. I DID take them through the process of properly filing for their rebates (those instructions were also printed right on the rebate form itself), and they re-sent them, and then got their money.

You say in your post:
"After repeated denials from them as to receiving the UPC code for an EPSON STYLUS CX4600 -- of which we have sent to them twice -- we took our receipts, UPC, and serial numbers into our local OfficeMax in order for them to resolve these issues."

Are you saying you kept the original UPC and receipts and things? If so, the rebate house may have required those originals and you got denied because they were not included in the package you sent them.

"Furthermore, we submitted a $30 rebate to Epson which was supposed to be a manufacture's rebate. EPSON has denied responsibility for the rebate and stated that OfficeMax was processing the rebate internally. Repeated inquires to Maxmyrebates.com (an affiliate of OfficeMax??) have resulted in outright denials of any knowledge of such a rebate!"

This sounds like an Epson issue to me. Call them back and give them the rebate number and tell them it was a manufacturer rebate and don't let them tell you otherwise. Stick to your guns.

"On May 16, 2005, we e-mailed OfficeMax at rebates@parago.com and attached the UPC that they requested. Hopefully, we will get results from this. But past failures by this company causes us to file this report."

That e-mail address is the address to the rebate house that processes all of OfficeMax's Maxrebates. You attached a scanned copy of the UPC code I assume...here again, it is not the original UPC and they may require that to process the rebate. I'm just guessing here because I have not seen the rebate form to tell you for positive.

I wish you luck, Brian. Let me know how it turns out. Keep this in mind, though...it is not your local store who is denying your rebate, or OfficeMax as a company either. Go easy on the folks at the store if you go back in there. They want you to get your rebate as much as you do!
