I  attended the April 2011 classes. Upon my first day I had met and took a tour of the school. They explained how everything will work for my next 10 months there. I felt as if I was being schemed but thinking these people know what they are talking about due to the elaborate staff bios.
I attended the first day in which we were late to start off class. They gave us student handbooks and binders for the year. They talked about how in our radio station that the school provided we would do remotes and be able to network with people as far as outside the school at local band performances and so on. That never happened.

They have a wall full of teachers and as a young student eager to start my learning for a career that that I have been anticipating since the age of 7, I could not wait to meet them all. We had 3 radio teachers 2 which were repeating. As for video we had 1 out of a wall of about 12 teachers. The teachers played favorites as far as delegating jobs in projects. I never had proper training in any leadership role as far as video. Also teachers were giving us the wrong information and different information than other teachers leaving us confused.

I knew a couple students who attended this school also and they (this school) does not have a strict curriculum. Meaning one thing one class learned we didn't. There was a lot of missed information. Some teachers also had ego problems, as well as telling us we could not use our voice (opinion) on social networks because they were watching us. Also the teachers would treat us adults as kids and talk and spread rumors to other classes and students behind our backs. Very unprofessional.

So life happens I found out that I was expecting. Suddenly I noticed that certain staff mainly administration treated me differently. I went from being one of the most called on to basically a nobody. I did great work and did not get the credit I deserved.

Finding a internship was very hard because a lot of stations do not want to deal with OCB due to the former students they granted internships to. I feel that goes to the staff for teaching the students how to conduct business which was very poor because even after I have completed the program I still have questions with no one to contact from the school.

We have to start our internships two months after we start the program which in the end leaves us scrambling to rack up internship hours to graduate. We are people too, we have lives, jobs, families, and our own personal problems.

In the middle of the program we learn that the upcoming month class will receive a computer taken out of their tuition. There was a change in the curriculum which explained as to why they were half teaching us. The new classes learned more than us in their first month and was released for their internships a couple weeks after starting. We were basically paying for someone to tell us their experience in the field of broadcasting as we were playing with equipment ourselves.

We had a couple of handouts but no textbooks in which they told us that our firs day. But each class had different handouts for different subject. Why do we not have the materials we need in order to complete the course successfully.

Also the job placement help.... A joke. He met with us and asked for our preference of location. Sent us jobs everywhere. What was the purpose of asking our preference? The jobs were the same jobs I found on craigslist, some were scams, and  then in the middle of it all the guy quit because he found a better job. Pathetic!
I was better off going to a 4 year college because the pay was more than one semester of a local university, the drama was unnecessary, and I would have learned more and took an exit exam ti ensure that I remember what I was taught. Today I am working at a grocery store paying off these student loans. It isn't worth it.
