I have been researching my ancestors online through Ancestry.com and also another website. I get a pop-up message that asks if i would like to add my family tree information to a larger one that is growing rapidly. I thought it was part of ancestry.com advertising for a new feature on their website. I read the entire message and it said nothing about being charged to join in. nothing showing what website it represented just plain text. It never asked me for my card info or my name or anything just claimed to help in the process of finding your ancestors as if they were a branch of a website that i already had joined. Once again, it had no info about being charged or even a free trial just a "join and benefit" type message. so i thought sure why not and clicked okay. now 8 days later, i check my checking account online and see a pending Debt for 59.88 from ONEGREATFAMILY.com. i never even visited the website once. I go to the website and try and cancel but i do not know my password or sign in name in order to do so (because i did not create one)! So pretty much it is a Big SCAM! Very misleading! they were able create a online account with all my info. E-Mail, Name, CARD NUMBER and sign me up for a one year membership all from one click. I am on day eight now of the 7 day trial i knew nothing of, so im thinking they will refuse to give me a refund like all these other people i just found out got scammed as well. i would like to File a Lawsuit against the company for misleading me and sign me up for something a was not aware of. however that would exceed my financial capability. any advice on how to get my money back would be greatly appreciated.
