We purchased Garmin GPS Nuvi 680 from the following website last night for $149.99 + $14.99 shipping = $164.98. This morning we called the 1-877-422-5115 number to verify. I man with mediteranian accent answered the phone and explained we need to spend another $69 to install the software, otherwise the GPS will not work he said. I asked him why the website did not mention this when we made the purchase, he said this is why customer needs to call so he can sell the software over the phone. he kept trying to sell me different software with negotiable prices, but I asked him to send the GPS whatever it is and declined his offer to charge additional $69 to my credit card, then he got very agitated and with a rude mediteranian accent he said "if you buy a car, can you drive without wheels?" Eventually I asked him to cancel my order, but he got pissed and without saying anything he hung up the phone. I called the number again and talk to the other customer service guy with the same accent, I asked his name and his supervisor, but he refused to say and hung up after saying "if you want to cooperate with me, you better not to ask too many questions".
I called again for the third time, this time they transferred me to the same guy I spoke the first time. He suddenly yelled "Are you the one I just spoke earlier? I already cancelled your order, (with agitated tone) bla..bla..bla.." I told him i did not get confirmation number, he said he already emailed me. I told him he didn't say anything about email and just hung up on me. He got pissed and hung up again. I didn't hear any single apologize during this conversations.
I read from Yahoo answer they have millions of other names and internet businesses owned by the same guy : George Sabato and they are being litigated in court. I hope everyone read internet review before buying anything from questionable NY based company over internet to avoid being ripped off and scammed with false advertising. Here is their website :
