Called ATT and they said Orbit is not a part of their company, so they do not know anything about it. They said the best thing to do is to call them. So I did.
I called Orbit Telecom and I asked them who they were and why they are billing me. The lady on the phone said they take care of voicemails that arrive on my phone. The reason they started billing was because they were requested online, and confirmed the service through email.
I informed them that they never confirmed anything with me, and that they need to cancel the bill and their service. She said that can cancel service but they can't cancel the bill. I told her that I never use my phone or the service, so why would I request them. She said everything was confirmed, so I asked her when they send the confirmation.
I checked through my email and I have nothing on the date she mentioned. I then asked what the confirmation email address was and she said she doesn't have that information. So I just asked her to continue on with the cancellation. She confirmed my name, address and date of birth. I told her that it's not necessary to give her that. She said then can I get an email to confirm this? I told her why don't you use the email that you confirmed it from the first place.
She said ok, and I asked her I thought you didn't have that. She said it just showed up. I asked her what it was and it was an email I've never heard of : ElmerBfirstname.lastname@example.org. (I blocked them b/c I don't remember the numbers and I don't give out my last name.) So I got the email address. I asked for more info on this email address and she said she has nothing.
I asked if she saw anything strange about my now knowing who that email belongs to, and she said no. I asked if she found it strange that I don't know that email, and that I never even used their service, she said no. I told her well it seems like someone tried creating a bogus email. She said that she doesn't see why anyone would try and do that because no one would gain anything from it. (After she said this I was thinking the only people that would gain would be them! If they do this to a lot of people and they doesn't check their bills, people will be paying for something they never asked for.)
I asked if I could talk to a fraud specialist or someone in that department, she said what do you mean by fraud? What is that? I told her that someone try using my account, and she tried correcting me and saying you mean Identity Theft Department. I said yes, and she said that she's already cancelled my account there is no need. I asked for a manager and she said why? I told her that she is being defensive about my situation when I am not even blaming them, and that she obviously doesn't want to help me get more info on the other person. She said she has already cancelled my account I will not get a bill and that there is no reason to talk to a manager. I told her that since I can't file a complaint through them I will make it known that people should look out for a company called Orbit Telecom.
If you are subscribed to this and you personally signed up, reconsider. They have bad Customer Service manners. If you are not, keep and eye on you phone bill.
