This company is the biggest rip off I have ever seen.I have 2 orchard bank cards visa&mastercard.on my mastercard I sent my payment on time they posted it 1 day late chargeing me 70 dollars in fees. I then try to pay it up but they charge me every month after my billing statment but before my payment is due. I have another card from SD that posted my payment before my orchard bank card did when I also live in CA where orcard bank gets thier payments. Orchard should have got there payment first.

on my visa I have a 300 dollar limit there recording tells me my balance is 288 dollars witch would Leave 12 dollars but at the same time tell me I'm 3 dollars over. This company is fraudulent. They take advantage of poor inicent people trying to build there credit. It's pretty bad when a payment can get to SD several states away faster than they can get to a company in the same state you live in. When all payments were sent the same day.

#23 Consumer Suggestion

Just a thought

AUTHOR: Jennifer - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 08, 2007

I have had an Orchard Bank Card for about a year now, as I am trying to rebuild my credit too. I have never had a problem with them. I keep my balance low and pay on time EVERY month. I send NO bills (other than my hospital bill) through the mail. My suggestion to you is to get a checking account. It will make paying all bills easier. They offer free online paying or you can have it taken directly out of your checking account. They take the minimum payment of 15.00 out of my checking account five days before it is officially due every month. I don't have to do anything but write it in my checkbook. If I have extra money that month, then I make an online payment. If I don't, my payment is already taken care of. So my suggestion is automatic withdrawal. Just don't forget to write it down!

Sending payments through the mail is a bad deal all around. My friend just started working at the post office and I have learned a little about the mail. It CAN take 12 days for mail to get somewhere. For example, on weekends if you mail something from my local post office, it goes all the way to St Louis for processing. St. Louis is about an hour and a half from me. Then it comes back to my town and is sent out from there. This happens even for local mail.

I sent a hospital payment on a Saturday (just to see how long it would take) and it didn't get there until the following Monday...9 days later and the hospital is only 20minutes away! I am not complaining about the post office, but it is just not reliable enough for credit card bills.

Never had a problem

AUTHOR: Rebecca - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 22, 2007

I have an Orchard BAnk Mastercard and have never had a problem with this company. I did have a late fee once because my online payment posted after the due date, but I called them and because it was a first time they reversed the charges right away. I pay early everytime now to keep my credit good. I am having a problem with them with a fraudulant charge, but it was my fault someone got my card and used it. I contacted the company and they responded right away. I am very pleased with how they have been handling my account!

To people who are trying to rebuild their credit... Paying before it is due is the answer. If you don't have a checking account and only use money orders to pay bills why did you get a credit card in the first place and then run it up to almost the limit? And I too have an part time job and don't have money the minute the statement comes in, but I have learned how to pay my bills on time and still managed all of my bills. My credit is getting better all the time from responsible handling of my account. Pay it at least 7 days or more in advance and you shouldn't have late fees.

I DONT WANT TO USE THE CARD NOW

AUTHOR: Pamela - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 12, 2007

I got APPROVED by Orchard as well as Household. I have been reading the complaints here because I really did think it was too good to be true that I got approved that fast online.

I am already building my credit and I don't need anything that is going to ruin all that I have done already.

Can someone please tell me? If when I get the cards I cut them up and get rid of them without using them will I be billed anything and if so How do get these 2 cards canceled?

POSTED: Thursday, April 12, 2007

Not all of us have the money to run right out and pay our bills. Most of us that have this credit card wouldn't need it if we had the money and financial means.
I work a full and a part-time job to pay my bills, but don't have an excessive amount left over to run and pay my Orchard Bank bill the minute it comes in the mail.
I lost 2 jobs due to downsizing-not because I'm lazy.
I'm sure a lot of people out there have been in the same boat as myself.
We are just trying to pull ourselves out of the trenches and start over-Orchard Bank is not making this easy for some of us.

My Thoughts!

AUTHOR: Elizabeth - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 10, 2007

First you cannot get that close to your limit and expect it to help your credit at all! If you're planning on rebuilding your credit then you need to keep your balance down to at least 25-30% of your total credit limit. Second, to be 12 bucks from your limit is asking for trouble! That's pushing your luck! Third You can't pay a bill the day it's due and expect them to not tack on late fees!

You said you paid it on the due date. that's really pressing your luck! You can't say Orchard bank is at fault here, you paid your bill on the exact due date. that's nuts! Geeze! Do you not realize there's specific times these cut off? And it always takes a day or so for it to post to your account!

So even if they received it on the due date, then you still are late because they tell you in your contract it takes a day or so to post! I always pay all my credit cards at least two weeks before the due date, and on line to ensure it's posted well in advance. you can't pay credit cards on the due date!

You signed a contract giving them every right to tack on late fees and over the limit fees if you are late, and not paying in well enough time for it to "POST" before the due date is "LATE"!

People tend to bash credit card companies for their own mistakes. yet all credit card companies do the same thing. and its nothing you didn't sign a contract for them to be able to do! Do this to Discover, American express, cap 1, citibank, chase. any of them and you'll get the same result. late fees and over the limit fees! It takes a few days on almost any of these cards to post a payment! I'm sitting here thinking how nuts it is to complain when its your own fault! LOL

To fix your problem, go to the library as someone else stated, or a friend or relatives house once a month, about 10 days before your payment is actually due and pay your bill online! Don't take these sort of chances. and never get that close to your limit. you're pushing your luck!

To get the best credit score from a credit card you can only use 25-30% of your credit limit or it's not doing you much good! Good Luck and try to pay your bills several days beforehand online!

Late-Fees

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 09, 2007

Generally, credit card companies have specific days and times their payments are due. Many cards set specific times which payments are due. (i.e. 25th of each month at 10 AM).

It is the date received, not the date paid. Even electronic transfers take 1-2 days to get trasnfered. So unless you can pay in person, you're out of luck trying to pay up the day its due.

You should always submit payments a full week in advance.

"My mom filed bankruptcy 2-3 years ago". "Orchard bank "helped" her out by giving her another card". If you can't make the minumum payment, call the toll free number on the back of the card and you can put THAT PAYMENT on ANOTHER credit card. And she wonders why she went into bankruptcy. Holy cow, she just doubled her debt. Having problems with best buy's bank, hsbc. Mailed several payments from Tx to Ca. Two of the last three have taken TWELVE DAYS or more to get credited to the wife's account.

Now, there's no way in hell it takes twelve days for the mail to get to Ca. hsbc was sitting on the payments. They credit the payments at midnight THE NEXT DAY. When I called best buy corporate and hsbc to complain, they actually went back and credited it for the day before. They got caught. This month they credited it in seven days. Will pay the account off early(no interest) and cut up the card and mail it to corporate. If they get enough shreded cards, they'll get the message.

Because I get paid about 2 1/2 weeks before it's due. my bill gerally gets to me 2 days or so after I send my payment so this really work either. This company needs to no this is not O.K.

Payments are not received/.posted in a timely manner

AUTHOR: Karen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 26, 2007

I have already responded once to this report.
My bill was due on 3/16-the money was electronically transferred to them on 3/16.
I was told in one of my emails that they needed to receive their payment BY 3/16. What's the use of having a due date when they don't honor it???
I have received electronic transfers into my personal account and know that they have been in my account within 1-2 hours, not 1-2 days.
I don't bother calling because they are rude and most of them don't even speak very good English!
The names signed on the emails are all foreign names and all of their emails are the same rehearsed crap!
I am filing complaints against them because I have the proof from my bank that the payment was sent on time.

Need to think with credit cards

AUTHOR: Rachel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 25, 2007

I am not the one who owns the orchard bank credit card, my mom is, But I help her out from time to time when paying the bills and such so I wish to put my 2 cents in on Orchard Bank.

My mom filed bankruptcy about 2-3 yrs ago. She always got these bogus credit cards, but the thing is, is Orchard, even before she filed bankruptcy, was nothing but good to her. Her minimum balance was always $15.00 and they even asked for her to come back, even when she's in the bankruptcy and paying her debts back, so they are helping her very much.

Now onto my ranting. IF you pay your bill online it very clearly states what times are good to pay your bill and if you pay it AFTER a certain time it is going to be posted late. You need to think with your head when owning a credit card.

I also understand you don't have a computer, that's fine and all, but on the back of your card is there toll free number, you can call them, find out your due date, and if by chance you can't pay it all, usually the minimum is 15.00 as that lady said above, you can pay the min. Balance and then when you have more money, put another payment on your credit card. The people and staff who work at Orchard are very nice and polite people, they will be more than happy to tell you when your next bill is due and what time you have to have it in.

This Orchard card is here to help you, but their not going to do all the work for you, you are an adult, you have responsibilities, when you sign up for a credit card you have to understand that it is your responsibility to get your payments in on time, so you won't have to stress yourself out over when their getting your payments and such. also, if you have a library, or a community college with a computer lab close to where you live almost everyone has internet access, you could always get a free account on orchard's website and pay your bills that way. It's easier and faster and it takes less then a couple of days for them to recieve their payment with no hassle.

I'm here for Orchard. My mom has had alot of credit cards in the past, but Orchard has always been the one to not only come back and offer mom a hand on her credit, but always was willing to work with us, IF AND WHEN we called and needed it.

Pay Credit Card Bills WHEN THEY ARRIVE, not when they are "due"

AUTHOR: Juliet - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 24, 2007

Autumn - Redding, California writes:
"I have gotten a few rebuttles on this report telling me to pay on line instead. at the time this happend to me I didn't have a computer But even if I did this idea only works if you have a bank account I don't have one. I buy money orders to pay my bills for this reason. Things to think about before you tell pepole to pay on line. Not every body has that option."

The problem isn't paying online, it's paying when you get the bill versus the DUE DATE.

Arrange your budget so that when the bill ARRIVES, YOU PAY IT. Disregard any due dates, when it comes to credit card bills. You will never win.

If the credit card has a phone service where you can call, before the bill arrives, to see how much you have charged, if you're not keeping track, call it and estimate how much you need to budget for the payment.

Some due dates are okay to go by, like utilities, at least SO FAR, in my experience. But credit cards - no way. Pay it when it comes, doesn't matter HOW you pay it, money order, online, whatever, just pay it WHEN IT COMES.

If someone is going to respond "I don't have the money WHEN IT COMES" - well, that's the whole point of budgeting. You CAN do it. You may not WANT to do it, think ahead, figure out a budget, and accurately estimate what your bills are going to be, when they may be due, etc., BUT IT CAN BE DONE.

#4 Consumer Suggestion

Quit sending payments.

AUTHOR: Nikki - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 23, 2007

I too have an Orchard Bank MC. Since my main goal in obtaining this card was to help build my credit, I make sure they receive their payment well in advance.

First, since I do not know how long the postal service will take to get my check to them, I make my payments online. Orchard Bank is one of the few bad debt credit cards that do not charge for this service (unless it is a rush service). Plus I sincerely believe many credit card companies purposely hold payments sent by mail until after the due date to charge you fees. Of course they say they don't, but it happens all too frequently. After all, you have no proof.

I know that if I make my payment on a weekday before 4:00, it will not post until tomorrow. It does not post right away unless you pay extra for the rush service. Same with if you have bill pay set up with your bank. If they get the payment today, they do not post until tomorrow, and it doesn't show up online until the day after tomorrow. On the website, under the "pay my bill" link, you will find their posting schedule.

You can set up your account online to email you when your new statement is ready for viewing. As soon as my statement is ready for viewing, I pay at least the minimum payment right then since the minimum payment is such a small amount anyway. Who cares if my bill is not due until the 14th of next month, I still get to use the money. If later in the month I decide I really wanted to pay more, I still can. Then about 4 or 5 days before my actual due date, I check my account, mentally add what the finance charge will be when the next statement drops (by looking at past statements), and I make sure I have enough money available to cover it.

Also, another idea is this. If you are a little behind in a month and don't really have enough money to cover all your credit card payments and your bills, you can pay your credit cards with your bill money, then pay your bills from your credit card. Be careful, don't go over the limit and don't forget to figure a little extra for finance charges.

Remember, we got these junk credit cards to rebuild our credit, so let's make sure we do that.

POSTED: Friday, March 23, 2007

I had many problems with them last year.
This year it's starting again.
I use my bill payer service through my credit union to pay my bills.
I recently sent them a payment (electronic transfer) on 3/16 which was the day my bill was due.
They charged me a 30.00 late fee on the same day!
I have the proof from my bank that the payment was made to them on that day.
However, they did not post it until 4 days later.
I've had it with these ripoff artists that's why I have joined a class action suit against them.
