I wanted a duplicate keyless entry for for my 2009 Hyundai Genesis and did not want to pay the $400 asked by the dealer.  I emailed Original Keyless (OK) and asked if I could return if not programable.  They send a Hyundai Key fob for a 2010 and I returned it and they sent the correct fob, along with instructions that included "Do not take to Hyundai Dealer, use local locksmiths who handle keyless entry.  If that fails get us a letter from the locksmith saying he could not do it. I signed terms of sale that said I had two weeks to return.  After trying three locksmiths and a local Hyundai dealer, the key would not program.  I returned the product but they refused to refund because of the 14 day return policy.  I reminded them of their "one year warranty" but to no avail.  I contacted American Express - no help.  I contacted American Express again reminding them of the one year warranty - no help.

I then learned that Hyundai Motors on their Genesis line of Automobiles had designed their new electronic entry fobs to be programable to any Genesis by VIN number.  It could be reprogrammed many times to the same VIN number but never to another VIN numbered car.  This was for safety and security reasons.  So in essence I was sold a product that could never be programmed to my Genesis.  It is useless and was usless whey OK sold it to me.

I again contacted AMEX and told them of these facts, fully expecting them to simply reverse the transaction.  Here is what I got back:

"In response to your inquiry, the merchant has provided with incoice, authorization, tracking details, signed proof of delivery, terms and explanation for the charge.  The Merchant has explained that paperwork was shipped and the remote ordered never programmed.  They cannot even be programmed.  It is your vehicle that is programmed to accept a new remote into memory.  The remote ordered does not and cannot store any data. We have attached supports for your reference."

Well, that certainly clears things up!

I did not contract to buy an intangable concept, an idea, a hope - no, I bought a Hyhundai Genesis Keyless entry fob that would work with my car.  I believe this merchant knew it would never work and is hoping I will give up my effort to get my $107 refunded.
