Anna (email received from Glenn Brown) on behalf of Overstock Discount Clothing, aka A&G Variety Store, Clothing Factory Outlet or Reflections Consignment Clothing, failed to honor refund for returned items that USPS says are delivered. On October 22, 2013, I placed an order for three women's suits online from Overstock Discount Clothing (overstockdiscountclothing.com). The total for this merchandise was $188.70. The items that I received were too small. On November 11, 2013, I followed the return instructions provided by the seller, and sent a detailed email to CustomerService@OverstockDiscountClothing.com to state that I was going to be returning the items and I provided detailed information about why they were unacceptable. On November 13, 2013, I returned the items to the address provided on the web page: A&G Variety Store 504-B Miller Road Sumter, SC 29150 The package was insured for $200 (receipts available). USPS tracking for the item shows that it was delivered on November 18, 2013. On November 23, 2013, I was contacted by the seller to see if I had returned the package since it had not been received. After several emails, the seller refused to provide the refund since the item was never received even though the post office indicated that it was delivered. I was directed to file an insurance claim with the USPS. USPS denied the initial claim and appeal since the item was delivered. As a note, delivery does not indicate that it was indeed delivered to the correct address; it was just delivered... somewhere. The seller continues to refuse to refund the purchase price since they never received the item. This is poor customer service and I will not be a return customer. This seller does business online as Overstock Discount Clothing and Clopthing Factory Outlet. Additionally, it appears that the 504-B Miller Road address corresponds to Relfections Consignment Clothing. Clothing Factory Outlet has an address of 3172 Broad Street, Sumter, SC -- which does not seem to have a physical store located at that address. Emails sent to the customer service email address are returned by: fod1969glenn@aol.com. This email address is listed as belonging to Glenn Brown, but the person sending the emails is Anna. If you do business with this seller, make sure that you send your returns with SIGNATURE REQUIRED. Insurance is not sufficient for getting reimbursed if your item is delivered to the wrong address, stolen, or the seller just chooses to claim that they never received it.

Resolution

AUTHOR: Anonymous - ()

POSTED: Thursday, March 27, 2014

As of March 27, 2014, my issue has been resolved.  The Better Business Bureau contacted Clothing Factory Outlet, the other company named by Anna from Overstock Discount Clothing as being part of the same business.  I was contacted by Sharon, who manages Clothing Factory Outlet.  She clarified that both businesses have the same owner but that they are independently operated.  The owner was surprised to hear about Anna's behavior.  Sharon stated that she has been dealing with issues from Overstock Discount Clothing (and Anna) repeatedly.  The owner, via Sharon and Clothing Factory Outlet, were very gracious about honoring my refund and were very apologetic.

For the record:

- DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH OVERSTOCK DISCOUNT CLOTHING (504-B Miller Rd, Sumter, SC).  You do so at your own risk.  Anna is not reputable and I would not trust her.

- CLOTHING FACTORY OUTLET has nothing to do with the poor customer service and it was terribly unprofessional of Anna to "throw them under the bus", make it sound like they were the same business, and say that I should not give them my business if I disliked how she was handling things.  CLOTHING FACTORY OUTLET IS RESOLVED OF ANY BLAME THAT I ORIGINALLY PLACED ON THEM.  THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS EXCEPTIONAL once they were aware of what happened.

I finally received my package back from the post office after three months stating that it was undeliverable to the address provided on the seller's web page.  I also got a response from the Better Business Bureau stating that their letter was returned as undeliverable to the same address.  Upon contacting the seller to ask for a new address to send the return to, I was ignored.  After sending a second request, I was told that she refused to accept my return.  DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS UNPROFESSIONAL SELLER.  Consider any purchases to be unreturnable.
