Owls Books in Toledo Ohio advertised on Amazon . Com web site that they had a used copy of an out of print book. The book was a little pricey at $46.00 but since it is out of print I ordered it anyway. With shipping the cost was $49.99. I received an email that same evening telling me the book had shipped.

The following day I went to Amazon.com website and it showed that the book was no longer available so needless to say I was thrilled that I would receve a copy. Owls Books used the cheapest mail delivery, bulk mail, to mail the book so after 18 days I received a small envelope in the mail with a return label that read "Books Toledo Ohio". Inside the envelope was a cheap 144 page book which was not the over 500 page out of print book I ordered. 

There was no invoice or paperwork in the envelope nor did the envelope say "Owls Books". I researched Owls Books location and verified that indeed this cheap book had been sent by them. Their address is a P.O. box and there is no phone number for them on the internet. They apparently don't want their phone number or physical location to be known.

I contacted Amazon informing them that Owls Books had sent a cheap book which in no way was  similar to the expensive, out of print book I ordered without authorizing the switch and was apparently going to try to charge the price of the out of print book I ordered. Owls Books dealings are shady at best and fraudulent at worst.They sent an email telling me to print out   a mailing label they said was attached and mail the  cheap book they sent back and after they received the book they would issue a full refund and they had a short time frame in which this must be done.

I called Amazon and told them that Owls Books has no grounds on which to dictate a time frame nor dictate that only after I complied with their ridiculous  request money would be refunded for merchandise I did not receive. I informed Amazon that I do not have a printer and no attachment with a mailing label was received by me anyway.  Amazon sent Owls Books an email telling them that I do not have a printer and could they send UPS to pick up the book. Of course Owls Books did not confirm that they would send UPS because it would cost as much to send the book back as the value of the cheap book.

Amazon has been very helpful with resolving the issue with Owls Books and are aware now that this is not the first time Owls Books has tried to treat one of their customers with unethical behavior. I will never, ever purchase another item from Owls Books but will continue to be an Amazon customer.

Still shady customer service

Owls Books Toledo Ohio said that they mailed postage so that a cheap book I did not order could be sent back to them. This was on May 31'st 2014. Today is June 12'th 2014 and no prepaid label has arrived. I called the Post Office yesterday to ask them if there is a way to prove that Owls Books had prepaid a mailing label and mailed it . 

They said there is no way to prove that  Owls Books Toledo Ohio had indeed sent the label as they claimed on May 31'st 2014 but the post office said that if the label had been mailed as stated, it would have arrived by now. In the meantime, Owls Books sent another email saying that I could send the book back at my expense and they would reimburse for postage. 

This further cemented my belief that they never sent the prepaid label. Don't fall for their story that you will be reimbursed for expenses to send back a book that was sent to you that was not what was ordered. Remember that when the book was sent to you they made you pay for the postage as part of the total price of the book So if they want a book returned they need to pay the postage to have it sent back. They will give you a royal headache and may never refund your money. They finally sent an email telling me to keep the book or dispose of it after 1 month of aggravation probably because the postage to send it back  cost as much almost as the cheap book they sent. And they realized that I was standing my ground and would not send that book back at my expense.
