I was originally sent a notice in 2006. They said they notified me numerous times in 2005. But, they never sent anything to me. They were using a wrong address. My original balance was $2,133.15 per MBNA. I had gone through a consumer credit counseling company. P. Scott Lowery's office sent me a notification to my new home in Feb., 2006 stating that I owed $2,784.42. Then, they sent me another notice stating I owed $3,997.00. They included interest and attorney fees 3 times in those amounts. I notified them about this. They had the wrong account number listed as mine on their claim. I pointed that out to them, and they ever so quickly changed it. I told them I would make payments with them in the amount of $50.00 a month regarding the 3,997.00. They agreed. They then sent me a payment plan, stating that I owed $5,169.40. I said no. I faxed them the paperwork they needed. But, I would not pay that amount. That was not the agreed upon amount. They then went up again in the amount to almost $6,000.00. I got my home phone cut off because they kept harrassing me and contacting my family, which they were not given the information for by me. They then, started harrassing me at work. I had my attorney look over my papers and he agreed that this was not correct. And in North Carolina, you cannot charge more than 21% interest charge. They are charging 26.99%. They are a horrible company and I hope they get what they are giving out.
