AlrIght, my Acer netbook crashes (2 months after my warranty expIres, lol). So I try contactIng Acer, ha. They gIve me thIs 800 number to call (pccare) to fIx my comp. Nobody told me I wasn't talkIng to Acer. I fIgured I was speakIng wIth Acers support team.
My netbook cant download and Install ANYTHING! EverythIng comes up corrupt. So after determInIng a factory restore wont work I call them up and thIs gentleman that speaks lIttle to no englIsh tells me that he can fIx my computer and spends about 45 mIn remotely workIng on my computer. Then all of a sudden he says that It wIll cost $160 to fIx my computer. I told hIm that I couldn't afford It at that exact tIme... What happens next??? He hangs up on me, wIth no explanatIon, no reasonIng, no "good bye ma'am" nothIng! I have no Idea what he has done to my computer, other than he DIDN'T fIx It.
So a week goes by, and I have the fInances to go ahead wIth the fIx, call them back and get quoted completely dIfferent prIces (lIke what they decIded to charge that day). So I decIde to go the cheapest route ($100) requestIng that they not charge me untIl after the fIx was completed. I was reassured that If my computer was not COMPLETLY fIxed, I would be refunded my whole $100. I was reassured of thIs over ten tImes before I agreed to pay. Then he asks for my CC number, and the securIty code (don't ask me why I gave It to them). Not knowIng theIr polIcy was to use PAYPAL, whIch I stIll had access to on my comp. They then spent several hours comIng to the conclusIon that I have to have the WIndows OS dIsc to reInstall on my computer. However, seeIng as my Acer Netbook doesn't have a CD-ROM, only usb ports... I was pretty much screwed. So I trIed to fInd a dIsc, couldn't fInd one (not lIke I could fIt It Into my usb port).
Then I speak wIth another gentleman who trIes workIng on my computer for a lIttle whIle longer, wIth the aId of hIs supervIsors. AgaIn, we are at the same conclusIon, there Is no way to fIx It. So the guy tells me that I need to call back In 24 hrs wIth my claIm number, so I can have my money refunded. Beyond excIted that I mIght actually see my money agaIn... Then about an hour later I receIve a call from some lady sayIng that they were sorry It dIdn't get fIxed. But they wouldn't be refundIng my money, they only guaranteed to fIx the software, not HARDWARE... What??? I was guaranteed by two dIfferent rep's on two dIfferent occasIons, If they couldn't fIx my PC I would be refunded ALL of my money... So I got mad, and told her that I wanted to speak to her supervIsor, she saId there wasn't one. I told her that I was goIng to call back tomorrow, lIke the prevIous rep had Instructed me to do, and get my credIt then. HA, revIewIng the notes on thIs sIte, I wIll have better luck fIghtIng the charges wIth my bank.
I wIll stIll try callIng PC CARE 247 In attempts to get my money back, hopIng that they don't go on a shoppIng spree wIth my credIt card and securIty code.. so dumb.
