On April the 13th 2012 my McAfee virus protection was not working on my computer. I then did some research using google to see how I could fix this problem. I then came across a number in the google search that had the name McAfee and stating they can fix any problems regarding PC and virus software problems. I called the number and a Man answered, I asked the man "is this McAfee"? and he replied stating yes. I told him about McAfee not working on my computer and he suggested that he will have to remotely take over my computer to see the problem. I was skeptical about this so I hanged up. I tried fixing the problem myself but still the problem was not fixed. I then called the number again this time a lady answered. The lady remotely took over my computer and proceeded to tell me that my computer was hacked and needed to be fixed as soon as possible. She opened some applications on my computer and showed me some of the flies that were effected. I thought that it was all true and I believed her. I asked her how much was the cost to fix this problem. She told me the cost was 199.95 for a one time fix. In Canadian that cost converted to $203.39. I payed the amount and they forwarded me to a so call technician and the technician only spent 20 minutes fixing my computer. A week after the problem with my virus protector not working started again. I called them back demanding a refund. They told me the manager will call me back in a hour and so he did. The manager only refunded me $60 claiming that it was all he was able to do. When I found out that they were not McAfee and have no business with McAfee I was terrified. Today I tried calling PCCare 247 to speak to the manager about a full refund but all the numbers are busy and I also tried emailing them. While doing research on the internet I came to find out that PCCare is out of business. I also called my credit card company to see if they can give me a refund but they said they cannot do anything because this happened over 100 days ago and they are only able to do a refund within 3 months. There was nothing wrong with my computer and PCCare 247 scammed me. The virus protector only needed to be reinstalled and updated. I am very upset about this situation because I payed so much money for nothing.
