I worked for Pitts Sales which is the main company of Palmetto Marketing. It is owned by the owner of Palmetto Marketing. I worked there for 2 years. What I did was hire people to sell magazines door to door. I have numerous good and bad stories about this company.

It was a great opportunity for me, but I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. If you have any questions about this company, contact me by using the rebuttal box below, and I tell you whatever you want to know.

I was taught honesty and respect

AUTHOR: Angela - (U.S.A.)

When I worked for Palmetto Marketing it was honest. I worked for them for almost two years. I had a lot of different experiences. I was young and had a lot to learn. I was taught honesty and respect, and I was respected. True it isn't for just anyone. My manager was my best friend, she treated me VERY well and I did make a good honest living at it. I remember at one time I had gotten an address wrong and the sales person who went to that particullar address the next year had notified me and we got the problem fixed. Not only did the customer recieve her magazine but she also recived two extra years for the mix up. I worked for both 041 and for 046. Both the managers were honest and both treated me very well.

sorry if i implied that you were not a top seller

AUTHOR: Valeria - (U.S.A.)

i am sorry if i implied that you were not a top seller. But if you were there long enough, you would also know that to be a top seller, you have to have consistently high business. So, i apologize.

I was wondering if you could tell me what crew you worked for or what your crew numbers were. I worked for 041, and i was just wondering if maybe some of the same people were still there.

#8 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Finally Home, I was tired of all the drugs, drama, abuse

AUTHOR: Ashley - (U.S.A.)

I worked for palmetto marketing for about two months, There were some days that I really enjoyed being on mag crew but on days that I had under five I was treated like s**t and that is wrong. I had the highest day of 21 orders when I actually sold about 35 magazines that day with all my double and triples zings ( thats were you sell a person more than one magazine ) There some managers that hadn't more sales that me. People that had been there like years and didnt have as many sales as me. Om my high day I made $210 off of my commission. Not including my bonuses. So yes I was one of the top sellers. I led my crew on my first day of working and no gave me any orders. So dont suggest that I wasnt a top seller. When I had other managers asking me to come work for them. I wasnt a weak a** I just wanted to go home, beacuse I was tired of all the drugs, drama, abuse. I have just chalked it up to experience. Now I know that I have the confidence to do a comissed based jod. And be able to sell corn to a farmer, cause thats jut how good I am.

Not exactly.

I know that people really get pissed off at these kinds of companys, but you do need to keep in mind that when individuals are hired for the positions, they are hired as independent contractors. That means they work for themselves and they live off of the money that they make. Just look up independent contractors and see what you come up with on that.

The whole time I worked for the company, I never saw anyone get fired, because they can't really fire them. People choose to come and go, if someone can't hack it, then they are encouraged to go.

If she really was one of the "top sellers", as you say, then she wouldn't have had so many "bad days". She would have got off her a*s and went to work. The only person suffering from her not working was herself. The managers can't constantly be working with old heads when they should know their jobs. The managers have to spend some time with the new people and make the business grow.

SHES ON HER WAY HOME, THANK GOD

AUTHOR: Heather - (U.S.A.)

My friend just called to let me know that she was coming home. She called around 4 from a MCDonalds which her boss dropped her off at until 8:30. She said that she made 3 sells today, but her boss said that she was still a p**** and she told him that he could go buy her a bus ticket home. Her boss, RAY, verbally assaulted her and NOBODY should put up with that. She is the top seller there! And yeah, she's making good money, but it's not worth it! This company has no morals and I can't believe that they have stayed open this long!

They are obligated by law to make sure that you get transportation back to where she was hired.

AUTHOR: Valeria - (U.S.A.)

Its in all of those papers she signed when she was hired. If for some reason she said anything negative during the day or the rest of the car was doing exceptionally well and she wasn't, then the car handler would more than likely leave her for the day so she didn't bring down the moral of the car.

If she has been there for over a month and she still isn't getting it and she is miserable, its probably best if she just goes home. That job is great for some people, but for others its not.

As for them making fun of her, if she wants to stay then she needs to toughen up. They don't really warm up to people until they have been there for a couple of months and proved thier "loyalty". People come and go in that business, and its easier to put up a mean front at first and learn to like them later.

Like I said, I had good days, bad days, and GREAT days, but its not for everyone and if its not for her then she needs to tell her boss. They may yell at her or make her feel like crap but in the end she will get to come home. Just remind her that after she leaves, she doesn;t have to deal with them anymore.

I have a friend working for Palmetto Marketing, a very bad company

AUTHOR: Heather - (U.S.A.)

A friend of mine left over a month agoto sell magazines door to door for this company. She calls me at least once a weeks, and she was doing great until about a week ago. She called to let me know that her boss dropped her off at a gas station for hours and left her there, because she only made 2 sells that day. The words she said he used were "I'm dropping you off here since you didn't make enough sells today." They make her copy phrases of the company moto or something to fill 10 sheets of paper. They constantly harrass her for her weight. Comments have came straight from her boss. The last time I talked to her was a week ago and she was in Baltimore Maryland. I'm really worried about her, I've read all of the scams associated with this company. At one point she said that they left her on the side of the road for almost an hour in the ghetto of Baltimore. If you could let me know some more about this company, I would greatly appreciate it.
