I have received by us mail a threatening letter from a scammer by the name of Portfolio Recovery Service, they are (Offering) me a chance to pay a small amount of $78.00 to pay off a home shopping clubs charge(WHICH I DO NOT OWE) so they say i owe this club $259.52 how ever when I contacted the shopping club (HSN) they also knew I did not owe this, and when they checked these people out while I was on the phone with them RIP OFF showed them around 70 complaints for the same kind of thing. This is the first time I have gotten a scam like this in the mail, usually it is by phone. They threaten to have my Drivers License taken away and my Social Security number revoked all of which is not true nor can any so called debt collector do anything like this. I talked with my attorney and was told to file 13 this after posting a warning for other people to see. So if you get this by mail you may see Norfolk, Va or postmarked from P.O. BOX 1099. WIXORN MI,48393-1099. phone numbers are: 800-772-1413 and 866-925-7109. Please be careful of these kind of letters as they are usually prefaced by phone harassment or harassment after the mail fails.
