Public Storage runs specials of $1 for your first month, charges $22.00 admin fee, plus insurance which they claim is required.

Most storage facilities will gladly tell you that your home-owners or renters covers, that and you can add coverage if you wish.   I was quickly shown the unit for size, and then completed the paper-work to move-in.

Five minutes later, I was about to start moving my stuff in - only to discover a slice in the sheet-rock wall the size of a very large human, not patched or anything.  I am six feet tall, and I could easily walk through into the next unit.

Or the renter next door could conveniently walk through my and grab what-ever contents were in mine.  I requested a secure unit or a refund. I was shown a second unit with another human size slice freshly patched with compound.  The way it was patched, I could have leaned on the wall and been in the next unit in seconds.

I requested a refund in full, and it just so happens your heavily discounted rent is not refundable, nor is the admin fee, or insurance.  Even though I reported it immediately  (5 minutes. ) Translation: accept a small loss now in our un-safe units, or store your goods and get ripped off later.  After reading some feed-back on this site, it's clear my impression and concern were dead-on.

People have had the content of their lives stolen from these types of facilities, with cheap sheet-rock they use for their walls.  You can have all the locks, cameras, fencing, secure gates, to only be robbed later on
when your neighbor handsomely robs you from within.

If a deal seems to good to be true, it likely is!   Only store your stuff in facilities with metal or concrete walls, excellent security features such as alarms, cameras, and of course professional staff.   I moved my stuff into a secure facility with peace of mind that they did everything right!  Do your self a favor, and do the same!
