On May 12th 2003

My Boyfriend had called me at work and told me that the power had gotten turned off and he had grabbed the bill and payed the past due amount of 176.96 thrue a automated pay station. Then he called the receipt in to pacific power they told him that we needed to pay another 367.72 to get the power turned. So I called Pacific power from my work and they said that the only way the power was getting turned back on was if I paid 367.72. So I sent my boyfriend to the automated pay station with 300.00. He came straight back to my work and I called the receipt in after finishing I got transferd to a live person and they said I still had to come up with 67.72.

I work at a hotel and get hundreds of calls and did not want to be rude and put Pacific Power on hold evertime my phone rang, so I asked the receptionest if I could give permision to have my boyfriend talk to her. She said yes and I stood up at the counter and listened to him fight with her because she told him that the 67.72 ( that would turn on the power)would have to be paid before 4:00 pm. He kept begging to let it be a little late
because I had to wait until 4:15pm to borrow money from my mother.

The receptionest told my boyfriend that there was no was no way to wait that 67.62 had to be paid and the receipt called in before 4:00pm or the power would not be turned on until the following day. He begged her for about 15 minutes to please wait she said there was no way ( that is very understanable).

About the time my boyfriend got off the phone my roomate came in and asked me why the power was off I explained it to him and he luckily had enuff money on him to pay it so he went to the paystation and pay the 67.62. He paid the money to the pastation at exactly ( time on receipt ) 3:54pm. Walked out the door and directly to the pay phone called to call in the receipt he gave them the account number and receipt number, She said your all paid up. My roomate asked if the power was going to be turned back on and the receptionest said no because me the person that had the acount under there name did not call in. Well by the time I got home it was almost 5:00pm. As soon as I walked in my roomate told me that they were not going to turn it on because I did not call.

So I called pacific power and explained to the receptionest what had happened and thrugh both times I was on the phone with pacific power they never once said that I had to call in the receipt, My boyfriend had also called in the first receipt and that was before i even knew the power was shut off. And in the whole 15 or 20 minutes my boyfriend was argueing over the time
never once did they it has to be payed and called in before 4:00PM .

The receptionest insisted it was not there fault they did not tell me I the acount holder had to call myself by 4:00pm. So I asked to talk to her superviser. She transferd me to her superviser and I explianed agian what had happend and how if I would have know that I had to call the receipt in myself it would have been called in by me no problem the easy part is calling the hard part is the money. Also I asked her why no one told that I personaly had to call it in? Why was it ok for my boyfriend to call in the first receipt? She could not give me any answers to my quetions except there is a privacy act. I told her I know about the privacy act why was it aloud to be broken the first time and not the second time ?

So I ask to talk to the receptionest's superviser. She put me on hold for a couple of seconds and when she came back on she took my phone number and told me that her superviser would call me back.

The superviser called me back about 15 minutes later. I explained the sutuation and asked her all same quetions as the superviser before. The first words she said is how do you know that the that receptionest your boyfriend talked to about having to have paid before 4:00pm didn't tell him to have you the acount holder call ? I replied my boyfriend lives with me and wants the power on just as bad as I do. She replied you were not on the phone to how would you know ?

My boyfriend was in the same room so I asked him if the receptionest he talked to had told him the acount holder had to call. He said no all she said and kept saying was it had to be paid before 4:00pm. If she would have told me you would not be on the phone right now and we would have power. The superviser heard the hold quetion and answer. She said that she does not know that he is telling the truth and nether do you.

I asked, If you call and make a reservation with my motel and we never ask or mention garrentteeing the room. So you show up at 9:00pm give them you reservation number and they say sorry we canceled your reservation beacause there was no credit card to hold the room. but for an extra 75.00 dollars I can give you a room. So who's fault would that be?

It would be my fault and I would make sure that the customer was fulling compinsated for all the trouble I put her though because the customer was not informed of our correct polices.

But obviosly Pacific Power does not care enuff to train ther employies correctly. And does not care if the customer is happy or not, In the area I live in there is only one power company. So they can treat the customers like dirt because they no they can't go anywhere else.

They never did anything to try to help me.
A superviser called both me and my boyfriend liers.
I had to pay any extra 75.00 dollars to have my power turned back on that evening so we would not freeze, all because someone was not doing there job correctly and didn't care enuff to try to help me.

I hope someone outthere from pacific power reads this and cares enuff to teach there employee's customer service skills
