Palisades Collection Agency- Asta Funding PLEASE CONTACT NJ DIV of CONSUMER AFFAIRS --Being Sued for a Bill that has already been paid Englewood Cliffs New Jersey

Please log onto John Corzine's website and file a complaint under Laws & Public Safety to the NJ Div of Consumer Affairs. My Husband found out that there was a outstanding bill on his credit report from Verizon back in 2002. We paid the bill to satisfy the debt so we can buy our house. He then received another bill in 2004 from Palisades Collection Agency. We faxed them the proof that the bill was paid adn they said it will be taken care of. My Husband just received last week September 2008 a document from the courts stating that he is being sued for the non-payment of the bill and Pressler & Pressler are the attorneys representing Palisades. We both called Pressler & Pressler to inform them that the bill was paid back in 2002. Both representatives said the same thing to us, which must be a script they have, that we tried to pay the bill in 2004 and the check came back insufficient funds. They said why would we try to pay it again in 2004 if the debt was satisfied in 2002. We explained that we did not try to pay the bill in 2004. They both said they are representing Palisades Collection Agency and will be pursuing the law suit and could not do anything for us. They would not give me the number to Palisades and simply told me that it is located in Englewood Cliffs NJ. I immediately got online and starting searching for the number. When I put in Palisades in teh search engine the Rip Off Reports appeared. I was outraged to learn that we were a part of this scam and scandal but it all made sense as to why this keeps coming up and why the representatives were so mean and unapologetic. I filed a formal complaint to the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs and we are working with a lawyer to go after Palisades adn get this take care of. Please file your reports and bombard Governor Corzine's email with these compliants and your concerns about why Palisades is allowed to continue to do business in New Jersey and any other state.
