Palm Harbor Homes Inadequate contruction services cost us extra $$$$$ & still not in our house after 8 mos Ripoff Wake Forest North Carolina

We, too, bought from Palm Harbor Homes. The house was ready to be shipped and set in April 2006. They had promised the foundation would be done by then. House was not set until July.

We had money in the contract for two separate heat pumps - they shipped the house with an electric furnace (and incorrect duct work). We had money in the contract for the whole house to be tiled except bedrooms/bathrooms. The only areas which were tiled were the kitchen, utility and morning room. The rest of the tile didn't arrive until two months later.

The beginning of November 2006 we found out that they never had the foundation inspected, and that it was built without drains, as required by State Code. On Nov 6th, our construction manager (the 2nd one - we requested to have the first one replaced)told us that the drains would be installed that week. It is now 3 weeks since the drains have been installed, they're still open and nothing has been inspected. These are some of the bigger issues we have with them. Of course, there are numerous others, actually too many to mention.

Letters/emails to everyone up to the president of the company yield nothing but false promises. We, too, are paying two mortgages/interest, and storage each month. I'm getting ready to contact the attorney general. We, too had to sign an Arbitration agreement, however, this was not put in front of use until 5/2/06, two months after we closed on the construction loan and about a month after the house was already finished. Of course, the small print read that this contract supersedes the one we signed about 6 weeks earlier. If that isn't deceptive, I don't know what is.

DO NOT BUY YOUR HOME FROM PALM HARBOR!!!!
