A few months ago I noticed that my bank balance was in the negative, which was not correct.  I went home and was surprised to find that my recent lunch at Paneras (which was around $42.00) with my mom and daughter had been charged not once, not twice...but four times!  This caused me to go in the negative and I also incurred, because of other bills and payments going out, over $240.00 in late charges!  When I contacted Panera they said that it wasn't there fault and that I had to contact my bank (First Merit).  The manager also said that she had received several phone calls so I wasn't the only one this was happening to.  She was adament that it was the fault of the bank and not Panera.  I ended up having to go and file fraud charges at my bank against Panara Bread.  It took over two weeks to get this straightened out.  My bank eventually credited my account for all of the overdraft fees, but I went two weeks without having any money!  There was not even an apology from Panera. 

I have not stepped foot in that Panera again (135 Great Oaks Tri, Wadsworth Ohio) because of that experience and how rudely I was treated. 

My husband, mother and I had to travel to Toledo for my uncle's funeral.  On the way we stopped at a toll road rest area.  We were hungry, and since none of us likes fast food, we went to the Paneras there. It was store #3389 in Amherst.  Middle Ridge Plaza.  45402 Middle Ridge Road, Amherst Oh.  Once again we spent over $40.00.  Well, my husband called me this morning and said, "You aren't going to believe this, but I just checked my account and Panera has charged me twice for when we stopped there on Friday (11/10/12)!"

I immediately went on line to see if anyone else was having these problems and found complaints on this site as well as over a dozen others.  I believe that Panera is doing this on purpose.  They are banking on the fact that most people don't look at their statements until a month later and don't catch it!  This is a scam and it has to be stopped!!!  I will no longer eat at Paneras, which is a shame, because I love their soups, salads and sandwiches.  However, I will not eat at an establishment that tries to cheat it's customer base!
