Paramount Relocation/United Relocation is a SCAM AVOID THEM AT ALL COST!!! Hollywood California
I moved from San Diego, Ca to Knoxville, TN. I know it's a pretty far distance however I was moving from a 1 Bedroom Condo with a normal sized couch and love seat. I had very few things to take the big items being an Armoire with the bedroom set and the couches everything else was not even normal size. I have a ton of clothes and a kithcen table and coffee table. That's it however I was charged far more than the online estimate which started out at $1989.25 and ballooned to $2824.56 because they say I had more square footage than I purchased. I asked Monika several times a representative at the company if she was sure of the square footage. SHe assured me given the number and size of items I would be o.k.
Well to Israeli gentelman showed up 4 hours late and began loading my things immediately telling me I have large couches and I'm going to go over the assigned cubic feet by a little. I figured a little o.k. maybe 5 or 10 feet I can live with. They came in at 160 feet cubic feet over and that equated to $880.00 without the fuel surcharge. I immediately fwelt like I was being scammed however I was over a barrel. I couldn't just call someone else at the drop of a hat and move my things. I had my car shipped a one way ticket leaving the following day and no place to live if I cancelled the moe and moved it to a different time. I was held captive to there demands. So I figured as long as I get my things I will just have to chalk this up to a lesson learned kind of thing... move it yourself next time ro sell everything.
My things show up a couple weeks later and they LOOOSE 9 boxes and damage just about eerything.. I was furious and they had no regard for anyones things.. they were brining peoples stuff into my new home that did not belong to me.. I was livid.. they kept asking me if I was sure this stuff wasn't mine.. I was just like are you serious?? I wrote my last name on all my boxes and I know how many there were.. they tell me to contact the insurane comapny and you'll be compensated. which I did and they contact me annonymously via e-mail with no Insurance company name and asking that I send pictures and an inventory of everything. I thought that is fair..
well I figure they ripped my couch and damaged other things and lost 9 freakin boxes.. they ask me to detail the weight of each item I do. THey send me a settlement offer with the weights changed from what I assessed to something significantly lower then tell me that's all I'm going to be re-imbursed for.
I called United Relocation and spoke to Monika and she said I'd be re-mbursed for the items that were lost in some way plus the money I paid them to ship them. Which was not on the settlement off.. so they want to pay me $124.00 for the stuff they lost and broken and nothing for the cubic feet I paid to ship those items. I don't know where to go from here. I feel like they have me over a barrel again.. should I just take the $124.00 and run? Or should I fight it out.. not sure still thinking about it..
But be warned they will scam you some how and they will tell you all the things you want to hear.. low quote.. insurance on your items.. which isn't true by the way.. they re-imbursement on your items if you don't purchase the optional insurance which wasn't discussed with me is .60 cents per pound.. which is insane...
