I never recieved my belongings and when I returned to work, I picked up a truck that had been left in GA. I kept asking about my belongings and how come I hadn't recieved them. I was told they must have beed packed up and sent to Company HQs in Murray, KY. It took another 3 weeks to get me to Murray.
Once there, Nobody knew anything. They got hold of the guy that was n the truck. He said when he picked it up, there was nothing in it. Come to find out, He picked it up in SC. Anothe driver had picked it up in VA, drove it for 3 weeks, then abandon it in SC. They refused to give me the name or address of that driver.
I finally contacted the woman in the safety office that had sent me home on the bus. I was informed that in the employment contract I had signed, It said that PTL was not responsible for personal articles left in their trucks.
I had been unable to carry all my personnal belongings on the bus and because of my broken arm, was only able to carry a small bag with me.
I lost a Microwave, 24000 watt inverter, Refrigerator, CB Radio, Laptop Computer, TV/DVD Player, Sattalite Box and Dish, Serrous Radio, Tom Tom GPS, Clothing, Shoes, Bedding, and the list goes on.....all total about $3,000.00 in personal articles. This was after all, my home for most of the time.
I filed suit claiming that unusual circumstances had occured, but because it occured in VA, I lived in FL, and the company was in KY, I ran out of money before I could see it thru.

How can they be responsible for your items? It's your stuff. You put in in there. When you broke your arm, anyone who may have assisted you from the company was several hundred miles away. You were right there. It's not as if you broke your arm, and the truck was snatched away from you while they were putting you in a cast. I'd have done something...anything...and everything to have avoided leaving them in that truck to then vanish into thin air.
You had some high dollar items in that truck. Given the circumstances you describe, I'd have probably looked up the name of a local trucking company, or perhaps even a local moving company, and hired some help to remove the stuff from the truck, and either placed it in storage, or arranged to have it shipped to you.
It might have been worth the expense to have had a family member drive to where you were to retrieve you and the items.
What I would not have done, was to entrust them with the company, knowing that the truck was going to be retrieved by another driver. And of course, you now know that the company couldn't care less about you and your stuff. You're only valuable when you are generating revenue for them.
