Do the math.....Rented a Dodge Durango for three days. First two days totaled $184.18 and this included all fees, extra driver, insurance for two days etc. Was told $256.18 was charged to my debit card as a deposit. (this is also on the contract I have in my hand). We added one day to our rental which would be another $92. This brings our total rental to $276.00 but we will round up to $277.00. We picked up the vehicle with 7/8 tank of gas. Returned it with 1/8 tank of gas because we were running late for our flight. They "Claim" that a Dodge Durango holds 21 gallons of gas, which we KNOW not to be true since we filled it up three times, but agreed to pay for 6/8 of 21 gallons which equals 16 gallons of gas. Multiply 16 x $6.99 per gallon and this comes to $111.84. They are saying that the total rental was $592.00 and that this included $165 refueling fee at $7.99 per gallon! My calculations bring ur total to $277 + $112 = $389. This leaves us stuck with an extra $203. When I got a little bit excited because I was being told this in a RUDE manner, I was HUNG UP ON! I cannot believe the bad attitude of this woman on the phone. I will be calling customer service during business hours but right now I have steam coming out of my ears! I have rented many many many vehicles in my time, but NEVER EVER paid anywhere CLOSE to $600 for three days, no matter what kind of vehicle or how much gas was in it when I returned it. This is the first time and the last I might add, that I will ever use Payless! Payless should be called PAY MUCH MORE than what we tell you to begin with, or even put in your contract! Hmph!
