Went into Pep boys to see how much it would cost for the clutch for the honda accord 1997, four cylinder, mannual transmission. At first the guy came out to the car to use his computer to do a diagnostics. He read about 8 codes out loud to us and said it would cost 89 dollares to find out what the codes meant. We decided to just fix the clutch instead. Inside he gave us a quote for $999 for the clutch plus all the service for it. I asked him if he could give us the codes and he said he didnt remember them. Then we asked another guy if they are allowed to give us the codes and the guy said" He didnt give you guys the codes?" I said, no. He asked the guy what the codes where, and he now "remembered them". Everytime I asked him a question, he made me feel like a complete idiot and gave me this really intimidating stare with a long silence and asked "What?" as if I should not have been asking any questions at all. Anyways, I decided to call another pep boys in Orlando, and asked them to quote the same thing.. He told us it would cost with everything $500. So we called back the place we had gone to earlier and again asked them for a quote, now instead of it being 999 it waas 846!! I told the manager why another place was $500 and their place was 846, he said because the other place probably didnt add 4 other things that they had to remove in order to change the clutch.. So I then, asked him why in his own dealership, the prices changed within the hour.. He couldt answer, he said maybe the employee clicked on the wrong button. I asked him " So if we go to Pep Boys, the employee can click on the wrong button and we woulnt even know that the price quoted was wrong???" He just didnt have much more to say and said, I dont know but the right price would be 846. I bet if someone else goes there the prices will change as they please again!! Its a total rippoff or they are not training the employee right. Either way, I felt the worst energy and decided not to EVER go to Pep boys there again.
