Last October, I took my car in because a tire pressure lite had come on. I was told by (Courtney (with a laugh) "It looks like you need a new set of tires". I told her I had the promise of 2 free sets of tires and she advised "that is done by a 3rd party company" (suprise to me but. . .) and that she would put a request in for the tires. As I stated, this was in October.
Some time passed (3 months) and I had not heard from the dealership. I has some spare time to go out of my way and visit the dealership.
The counter person in Service (Courtney) said that she would figure out what was going on. She ran all my service receipts and low and behold, the last one dated October 2012 noted that a request would be sent. After she shuffled through all the service receipts she said "it looks like all your services were done on time, or really close, so you should be okay". She had know other way of knowing what the statuts was beyond that. She also let me know "they can deny you if it has been too long in between services". I must have had a suprised look on my face (having never heard of services having a due date to receive the free tires.
She told me she would place a post it on the receipt from October and have Steve Lowry call me first thing Monday morning.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday passed with no call. Finally Friday am, I was left a message from Courtney who let me know "your request was denied, it looks like you did not have the tires rotated enough times".
In consideration of the fact that I was never made aware of this condition regarding free tires, I am calling RIP OFF!
As a customer and having bought a number of cars in my lifetime; I was reallyt shocked but what had been sold to me.
I would not have had expensve oil changes done at the dealership had I know they could pull a stunt like this.
Is it up to me to tell the car machnics when they are changing the oil to rotate the tires?? I am the consumer not the Dr. It is their responsibility to tell me or suggest to me what services I need to have done. I am not the expert.
I call BS.
