This website purports to offer all pertinent information to pet owners about pet products, services and shipping information. In the immigration section regarding shipping of pets into and out of Dubai, it states: All pets must travel via MANIFEST CARGO when entering and exiting UAE. I called Lufthansa and KLM in Dubai and learned this is simply not true. Pets can still travel as EXCESS BAGGAGE with owners on same plane. If a pet travels cargo, one must then hire a cargo agent to handle all the documentation. This is where pet shipping can become very costly. However, if you opt to ship your pets as excess baggage, for example, a flight from Dubia via Munich or Frankfurt to D.C. would cost you $200 plus the vet fees at Dubai Airport for clearance.  Secondly, this website sells "pet passports" and "other important documents/forms" listed by airline for $9.95 plus shipping/handling. Pet owners beware - this is NOT an official document. It is NOT required or accepted when shipping pets. What you need are valid certificates of immunizations from the vet and any other paperwork to be completed by the vet at the airport in a particular country. Do not believe you must use cargo and hire a handler who promises to follow your pet's itinerary every step of the way. They have no way of accessing such information and many of them know nothing of or care about animals. Don't spend money on useless forms. If you want reliable, accurate information on pet transport, please visit www.actionpetexpress.com. But also know with a little homework, you can save yourself thousands of dollars by handling your own pet transporting. The different American airlines have many restrictions. KLM and Lufthansa are pet friendly. Do NOT use Air France for travel from Dubai to the U.S.

Regarding Inaccurate Claim

AUTHOR: Susan Smith - ()

RESPONSE: The information and accusations that you purport are completely
inaccurate with regard to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).  We do not state
on our website that all pets entering and exiting must travel as manifest
cargo.  We state that pets cannot arrive in the UAE in the cabin of the
aircraft and that is correct.  They may leave as checked baggage or
in-cabin, if, the airline permits this.  This is a UAE regulation, and not
an airline rule and it is easily validated.

Our policy is to follow the regulations of every country as they are
published. Should regulations be strictly enforced, which they oftentimes
are, our visitors will be prepared and avoid problems which can ruin their
trip and endanger their pet. We do, however, value the input of people
like you, because sometimes, it is a way of finding out details that may
not even be listed on government or embassy websites, and we gain a great
deal of insight by those who travel extensively.  This helps us to update
the over 3,800 pages of information that we provide for free to the traveling public on PetTravel.com.

It should be noted here that many countries do not have official
documents, but rather require specific information.  What must be
official, are APHIS Form 7001, Annex II for the EU, Fluorescent Antibody
Virus Neutralization tests, Echinococcus test, etc.  We provide all that
is necessary for pets to travel worldwide, but most importantly, we
provide instructions and full email support to assist all of our visitors.
Our documents and instructions have helped thousands of pet owners enter countless countries for years.

All said, our forms and instructions are accurate and we do guarantee
that. Our information and documents are a result of endless hours of
research and contact with the USDA, embassies, and international agencies
and we dedicate full time employees toward that end. We are recommended by
major airlines, the USDA and the US State Department as well as consulates
and embassies around the world, including the US military.

We are proud of our track record assisting thousands upon thousands of pet
travelers for over 16 years, something that would be impossible if we did
not provide the quality high level of service that we do.

Our phones are open for any questions 5 days a week from
9:00AM-7:00PM EST. You can reach us toll free at 877-241-0184 or locally at 954-566-7300.  Our web address is www.pettravel.com.

Complaint Rebuttal: PetTravel.com

AUTHOR: Susan Smith - (United States of America)

PetTravel.com has been on the internet for 16 years assisting pet owners traveling with their pets. We are a trusted source for information on traveling with a pet. This fact is supported by referrals from the US State Department, Embassies worldwide, Major airlines, the Military and the USDA.
Presently, we have information on PetTravel.com on traveling to over 240 countries worldwide with a pet. We have full time support constantly verifying information regarding international regulations for countries that are commonly visited by pet travelers, such as the EU member countries, to distant and lesser known destinations such as Burundi, Malawi and Equatorial Guinea.

We appreciate the complaintant's comment on export from the UAE and we have made the correction. That said, it appears that the complaintant has an issue with traveling pet owners being deceived into hiring pet transporters. Our objective actually supports his concern as we are here to assist people in transporting their pet themselves as long as it is possible and conforms to a country's regulations.
In our many years of business, we have served thousands of traveling pet owners with information on international regulations with next to nothing but positive feedback from our visitors. Our information is detailed yet easy to understand for folks who want to transport their pet themselves.
We feel the nominal cost that we charge for keeping our information current and accurate, as well as providing free email support, is well worth it. Our visitors feel the same way from what they tell us.

Our phones are open for any questions 5 days a week from 9:00AM-7:00PM EST. You can reach us toll free at 877-241-0184 or locally at 954-566-7300.

I heard from the folks at this website who explained their forms and documents as a way of assisting pet owners in learning all the current regulations for shipping their pets to and from other countries in the world with the latest information per airline. Changes occur so often. It has been clarified that the "pet passports" are not the official ones you need to present at the airport but this website's way of sharing pertinent information to potential pet owners. They have valuable information to share. Still, if one does his/her homework, you can access this information on your own. For example, if you are flying from Dubai to the US, call that airline at the Dubai office and find out what is needed. Often, you can obtain forms from the airline itself. The most important thing is to get a health certificate issued by your veterinarian with all the necessary documentation and then follow up with the airline and the country's export/import regulations on transporting pets anda the exact type of kennel needed (don't always trust a website that maintains they sell airliine-approved crates because each airline's requirement differs). All is clear and appreciate the communication from pettravel.
