Petland of Lewis Center, OH sold us a parasite and intestinal bacteria-infested kitten... very sick kitten! Lewis Center, Ohio

The animal was in ICU, which I did not mind giving authorization for, because he was barely breathing and I knew he really did need it.  I feel like if he could have stayed there, the outcome would have been different.  However, once Petland got involved, he wasn't allowed to stay there in order for them to pay the bill.  Of course MedVet wasn't going to bad mouth Petland's vet, but I do feel like they would have told me if they honestly felt he needed to stay with them.  As you said, they all have their hands out. And I had already authorized far more to be deducted from my account than what we had used up to that point.  So for them, they were losing money by discharging him to the Petland vet.  It was after the transfer when things went downhill.  What makes me the most angry is the vet at Bethel Animal Hospital kept saying she might want to do this or that, but that she would need to run it by PEtland for approval.  I finally told her we own this cat, not Petland, and if you feel he needs something and they won't pay for it, you call me right away.  I just feel really bad for letting him go to a vet that closed at 7pm, and I feel like he probably wanted someone to console him as he died.  And I know that if there had been staff there to watch him, they could have supplemented his sugar (that was the problem every time he crashed bc the parasite he had causes that) and he wouldn't have died.  But Petland won't authorize animals to get care except at 2 vets, both of which close in the afternoon/evening.  So I had to leave once we moved him, because they have no staff there. It sucks! I already knew Petland sucked, but I didn't know to what extent.

I suggest never even leaving the room when your pet is getting care.  Even somewhere you "trust".

Very true! Will never buy a pet from Petland again, or at any pet store for that matter.  This was my daughter's purchase. Sadly, she had to learn the hard way why Petland is not a good choice when seeking a new companion. I have adopted my pets from the humane society.

Our kitten was thriving and smacking at its IV with its paw and meowing and walking all over the exam table when we took it to Petland's vet yesterday.  In fact, it was doing so well that Medvet had told us it would most likely spend the day at the new vet and then be well enough to come home by evening.  Something changed after Petland's Vet, Bethel Animal Hospital, closed at 7pm. That's right...none of their vets have staff during the overnight hours. We got a call first thing this am that the cat had died.  Now of course, it died "suddenly as soon as they got there this morning".  Sure it did.  Funny how things changed once Petland started footing the vet bill.  Our vet had him improving with each day, to the point that he was too well to be there.

are in cahoots with the local veterinarians, they often have one in house.  They WANT you to spend, hundreds if not THOUSANDS!

You're better off just stealing a cat running around your neighborhood.  Less hassle too.

Fleas can also make a cat lethargic, as they can suck away all the blood, just get a CHEAPO flea collar and don't buy in to all that expensive vet recommended flea treatment.
