PPL does not vet their attorneys or stand behind their services. If you get a rotten sleeze bag who takes your money and does nothing they won't help at all. They check out their attorneys just the same as you or I can...go to the state bar association and look if their are any complaints.
If no complaints, they sign him or her up. We took a referral for a criminal attorney and he just took all our money and did nothing. As a result we are left after 13 months with no money, no lawyer, no resolution and a possible prison sentence and felony strike on an innocent person.
No help from PPL...they don't stand behind their services. Forget about using this service. They let you down when you need them most. DO NOT EVER USE THEM FOR CRIMINAL MATTERS.

1. PPL does vet and check PPL members complaints nationwide and all is
in a data base. So it is totally false that all they do is check the
state bar for complaints.
2. Your membership means you can if not satisfied ask for another attorney up to 3 times, after that it could be you are the unreasonable one.
3. Since this was a criminal matter there is I suspect more to this complaint than what is being offered here. A. In criminal matters win, lose or draw if you are a PPL member you get 25% off the standard price. Criminal defense can be very expensive. B. Sounds like this party did not like what the attorney had to say about their problem. C. Plea bargains sometimes are they only way to go unfortunately. D. She says nothing about going to the state bar and complaining does she.
I do feel for this person and I hope everything worked out, because I hate to think there is another innocent person doing time in prison. One good thing about this is it sounds like this would be a first strike against this person and the way the judges are today and the over crowing I can only hope the prison time was very short.

I have a different experience but I did not have to go this far as you have done to get support.
I have had good service as a member. But it does not mean I may not have the same problem you experienced.
There is good and bad in everything.
I have a link you can go to file a complaint with CA Bar Association. I believe it is the best method to bring to light certain unscrupulous and unethical activity.
I hope the link helps others too.
As they say no one should be above the Law.

Read the blogs and BBB to see who recommends an attorney with good reputation either at the provider or other sources.
It is like finding a good mechanic I found it better to look for information from referrals that already have practical experience.
I have had good service as a member. But it does not mean I may not have the same problem you experienced.
There is good and bad in everything.

Mary Ann of Sacramento has not done her due diligence on either Pre-Paid Legal Services OR on Parker Stanbury, LLP.
Our family has used both for many years and have found that only a highly efficient and highly rated lawyers are on the staff of the law firm. We have been assisted and represented with two major legal situations and have been on the winning side because of the assistance and representation.
Pre-Paid Legal Services has been around for 36 years!
Parker Stanbury, LLP has been around for 81 years!!!
If Mary Ann or others have a comjplaint about service received from any attorney assigned or referred by Parker Stanbury, I would recommend contacting Pre-Paid Legal Services Customer Service at 800-654-7757.
As a friend of mine once said, "It is easier to ridicule than to investigate but it is not nearly as profitable."

Don't use them for Criminal?

The first thing they tell you when you sign up is that they are for civil law only and that if you are charged with a criminal offense they are unable to help you with that. They are mainly for defense in civil suites and for legal advice. Also, you might want to try taking classes on sentence structure and punctuation.
