As you can imagine - this is yet another scam to the recent graduates of college.    Philadelphia Marketing Executives have posting running rapid throughout Monster and CareerBuilder and I've even seen a few on Indeed.   Well as a recent college graduate looking to make entry into the world, it didn't seem half bad.  I mean come on, NO experience needed, a base-salery of 32-42k all while sitting at a desk.  Interesting.  

Like many niave grads, I applied for the job.  Bearing that the chances would be slim considering a I was a psychology major with formally NO marketing background. This "scam-business" changed the dynamics alittle and allowed 3 days before send an e-mail of interest and then calling to offer an interview.  call me gullible but they certainly had talked their way up about their company, all while being quite vague.    We scheduled an interview for the following day, at 11:30. [continued below]....

.....  I was estatic. Well this is great.  I then reached out to my father, a successsful business man to give me some tips on what I should ask during hte interview.  He advised me to look into their website to find out more about the company, and also send the website link to him.  As I went on the website, long and behond I found out just about NOTHING.  Ther website is EXTREMELY vague with no elebaoration on what type of marketing they offer for these so called fourtune 500 companies they cater too.   That was sketch number 1.   I decided then to divulge back into the eye-catching job listing I found on Career Builder.  This was the exact job listing:

Philadelphia Marketing Executives Inc. is a sales and marketing firm that was hired in an immediate demand to meet the current market needs for commercial accounts. Our client acquisition team focuses on providing the most comprehensive client relationship management. We are currently hiring into an entry level management training position.

 

This Client Coordinator position involves responsibilities in:

  • Sales, marketing, and training
  • Entry-level management
  • Human resources and recruiting
  • Face to face sales of services to new business prospects

PME is a sales and marketing company that was hired in an immediate demand to meet the current market needs for commercial accounts. Our client acquisition team focuses on providing the most comprehensive client relationship management. Our personal, live presentations offer a unique way to establish and build rapport with customers. Our face to face approach is proven to work and is the best way to provide growth for our Fortune 500 clients.

We develop our employees from the ground up. Beginning as a Client Coordinator, they work directly with our clients and their marketing teams to develop the necessary skills needed to grow and advance professionally. They must act as a liaison between Philadelphia Marketing Executives’ clients and customers. Now that I already had my suspisions, I realized this was verbatum to what I was told on the phone.  So I decide that if this business was true to its word, it must have a liscensing for their "corporate business".   I searched the company on the PA Department of State and found that there is NO liscensing or regulation affairs for this company.  The only information found on this "coroprate company" was:

So this company that has been in practice for "decades" was made a little less than a year ago with no liscensing of business.   I did not proceed to go to an interview, because I caught the scam before but I'd hate to see others be tricked into such a scam. From what I've read via other scam comapnies such as 7Marketing, APEX, AMP Marketing, etc.   Search these marketing scams and you will find a whole bulk of information.  Don't fall for this scam. I felt it was best to put the information out there for all to see.

I would like to respond to the individual who wrote this report. First off I appreciate your concern with our recruiting tactics. In regards to our recruiting, we are always interviewing but not always hiring. We do enjoy the opportunity in bringing on young college graduates who are looking to get a foot into the business world. We have found that alot of large companies today only hire an individual if they have a certain amount of years of experience. Here at Philadelphia Marketing Executives, we don't necessarily require any experience. We feel as if our training program caters to all learning curves, and with the correct work ethic and student mentality, someone right out of college can pick it up very quickly and be successful. We have found in the past that individuals with multiple years of experience tend to try to reinvent the wheel and do things their own way. Sometimes it works for them, but most of the time it doesn't. Even if someone doesn't pursue our company as a career, the responsibilities and duties that are taught and done are very transferrable anywhere.

In regards to our website being vague, we have strict limitations that we have with our clients on what we can and cannot post on our website. We dive into detail on our clients and revenue generation in the 3 steps to our interviewing process.

Our company has not been around for decades, so I'm confused as to where you recieved that information. We have been in business since October of 2012 and are a legitimate business with a legitimate tax identification number.

Again, we appreciate your concern for others in regards to this being a scam. We have been growing since 2012 and wouldn't have had the success that we have had if this was not a legitimate opportunity for young entreprenuers looking to get their foot into the business world.
