Received a letter and a check in the mail yesterday from Picadilli & Trust. The letter claimes that my husband was a recipient of a government grant and that this check was for federal & state taxes and processing fees. It stated that once we had done so (paid the taxes with this $) that we would then get a check via Federal Express (requiring a signature) for the remainder of the $40,000 grant money within 1-2 business days.
The letter states that this is not a loan and is not required to pay back. Millions of grants are allocated every year etc. Enclosed is a check for $3,949 from Capps Van & Car Rental Company. I have contacted them and they are aware and have authorties involved. This is a fradulant scam! Do not try to cash the check! I was simply told by Capps to shred the check.
Hope these people get caught!!
