Due Process violatations and back room deals is what the Pinal County Deputy Attorney Craig Cameron and Animal Control are used to.
Recently Cameron admitted in Superior Court that he "streamlined the lower court processing to get the fastest verdict"... what does this mean? He violated due process proceedings and bypassed laws for his benefit and denied the defendant a fair hearing.
The Pinal County Animal Shelter and Cameron are in an emotional battle against a woman whos dog is being held under cruel conditions for the past 8 months. The dog, who scratched a child while playing in his own home, was wrongfully determined to be vicious because Cameron said he was. No assessments, no experts from the County and no documents were presented at the Florence Justice Court hearing, just Cameron's wild accusations.
For the past 8 months the dog has had no exercise, no human contact and when the family traveled from California to see him, they were denied visitation and threatened to be arrested if they went on the Animal Control property. [continued below]....
The woman appealed the lower court's decision to euthanize her dog, retained an attorney and has a new trial July 29th in the Superior Court. This past week, the woman received an Order to remove the dog from the Pinal County Animal Control and kennel the dog at her expense pending the new trial in July. However, as of Friday, the County will not release the dog, violating the Judge's Order.
The woman is not even sure her dog is alive, and has not seen him since February when she went to visit and was subjected to pepper spray in the quarantine area from an alleged pit bull fight where the County Animal Controll used pepper spray to break up the fight. When the woman complained about the care and condition of her dog, the County called the Florence Justice Court Judge who denied any further visitation without a hearing on the matter.
The woman filed a Notice of Claim for damages against the County for the cruel conditions her dog endured. Further litigation is expected.
