On the January 10, 2009 while my "5 year old" son was spending the night with his "5 year old" friend the family went to the Pizza Hut store at 1805 Beltline Road to eat supper. The family had taken the boys to Chucky Cheese to play then went to Pizza Hut to eat because it's cheaper. After eating while the mother was putting pizza in a to go box and the father was paying for the meal the boys were standing by a table when an employee wearing a red shirt knocked my son into a chair causing him to fall and hit his EYE. The employee didn't stop and check to see if my son was ok. NO STAFF MEMBER BOTHERED TO SEE IF MY SON WAS ALRIGHT. Another customer got some wet paper towels to put on my son's eye.

When I learned what happened I contacted the store( Monday 1-12-09) and spoke with a Manager named SARA who knew nothing of the incedent but took my information and then told me that I needed to speak with the GM TRACY.

I was able to contact TRACY the next day(1-13-09). TRACY said she was unaware of the incident but would look into it. When I told TRACY that the employee was wearing a RED shirt she strongly informed me that NONE OF HER EMPLOYEES wore RED SHIRTS. I told TRACY that I would contact the parents who my son had been with and get a description of the employee and call her back. TRACY said she needed to speak to them so I said I would ask them to call her.

The parents called TRACY the next day(1-14-09) and talked to her. When I called her later the same day TRACY again stated that none of her employees wore red shirts. I had asked the parents who my son was with about the employee in the red shirt before calling TRACY and had learned that they had seen the EMPLOYEE IN A RED SHIRT sweeping the floor by the salad bar. When I confronted TRACY with this information she stated she would need a description from the parents who were with my son. I told her I would have them call her.

I called the parents who my son had been with and asked them to call TRACY and describe the employee. They told me that when they had called her before that they described the employee to her then.

I called TRACY back and confronted her with this information she told me that some of her employees recalled overhearing another unknown customer say "O my God he fell" and "is he ok". However NO STAFF MEMBER bothered to check on my son. Before I ended the call she told me that SHE CAN"T CHANGE WHAT HAPPENED and asked WHAT I WANTED HER TO DO FOR ME.

The next day (1-15-09) I contacted Pizza Hut Cooprate Risk Management Office and was told that I had to contact NPC International. I contacted the Executive offices and was told to call SALLY BLACKERBEE at the Southern Regional Office. When I tried to call SALLY BLACKERBEE I was told she was out of the office and they didn't know when she would be back in. CINDY SYLVESTER told me that I would need to speak with the AREA MANAGER DANNY SPEAKS. I attempted to contact Mr. SPEAKS and got an answering machine.

I called back to the EXECUTIVE OFFICE and spoke with a woman named SHARRON and she insured me that she would have someone contact me.

DANNY SPEAKS returned my calls (1-19-09) and wanted to know what had happened at the store. I told him the facts as I knew them and what had told to me by my son. Mr SPEAKS then told me that the customer who had helped my son had called the store the next day or the next (1-11/12-09) and that the EMPLOYEE IN THE RED SHIRT, who wasn't in a red shirt according to TRACY, had written a statement not remembering knocking a child down or bumping into one. Later in the conversation Mr SPEAKS told me that there was also a written statement from the lady who had helped my son.

Mr. SPEAKS stated that HE WAS NOT PREPARED TO DO ANYTHING. Before the conversation ended he asked me what I wanted him to do for me.

Nine days after this incedent my son's story remains the same, he was standing by a table and a man with a plate of drinks knocked him into a chair.

In the same nine days the story from Pizza Hut/NPC International keeps changing.

They don't have any employee's at that store who wear red shirts, yet they have a written statement from one.

They knew nothing of the incedent, then employee's over heard an unknown customer say "O my God he fell" and "is he ok".

They overheard an unknown customer say "O my God he fell" and "is he ok", now the customer called the next day, NO WAIT there is a wriiten statement from the unknown customer.

I find it sad that adults will/would go to such lengths to especially when a child was injured. It is a SAD commentary on the state of coorprate America.

You probably punched your child in the eye yourself, and are making this as an excuse for CPS when they are investigating child abuse.

Ok, So at the end of your report you say this.

"Nine days after this incedent my son's story remains the same, he was standing by a table and a man with a plate of drinks knocked him into a chair.

It does not seem possible that a typical person would be sweeping the floor and carrying a tray of drinks at the same time. Or was your son hit by 2 people????

It is a good idea to consider your case before you write. You may end up contradicting yourself and therefore make yourself seem dishonest. Just some advice.

STRANGE

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

"The family had taken the boys to CHUCKY CHEESE to play then went to pizza hut to eat because it's cheaper". I find that real hard to believe. Pizza hut is alot more expensive the CC. Have only been to CC once, maybe 25 years ago, but I thought you got soo many tokens when you bought a kid's meal which is probably a couple of bucks per kid. What would have the kids have played with token wise? It makes no sense to drive from one pizza place to another. There's gotta be more to this story.

Where's the rip off?

AUTHOR: Resty - (U.S.A.)

Boys will be boys.....especially at 5 yrs old.

But where is the rip off? Or is it the fact that you cant get anyone to corroborate your story enough to get you compensated? The adults your son were with SHOULD HAVE been able to state what happened had they been paying any attention to the kids. HAD they been paying attention perhaps your son wouldnt have been bumped into.

Ive raised kids.....I know how fast they can get hurt......how fast they can get outta hand......or be bumped into like this. I just dont think it's right that though he was seriously injured or maimed, you're obviously trying to gain some compensation at Pizza Huts expense.

#12 UPDATE Employee

A Couple of Comments

AUTHOR: Pizzagurl - (U.S.A.)

I am the mother of 5 children and I have worked the floor as a waitress for Pizza Hut. I cannot tell you how many times children have bumped into me due to them playing around or just not paying attention. If the employee did knock your child down, their biggest crime was not apologizing but at the end of the day it was an accident.
The thing is, the company is never going to admit fault however, I noticed that you said twice that they asked you what you wanted. They were trying to compensate you even though they could not admit fault. Respectfully, my question is the same. What are you looking to gain for an accident? I understand that there were visable marks of injury but if the child did not have to have any emergency care than I don't understand what you were seeking either. 5 year old boys get bumps, scrapes and bruises all the time and I am sure that this will not be the last time either.

Who witnessed this incident?

AUTHOR: Andy - (U.S.A.)

From what I read, neither of the parent who were responsible for your son's supervision or anyone else saw the incident. Otherwise it would be reasonable for the people watching your son to immediately confront the employee or ask for the manager.

Why are you so sure that an employee caused your son's injury? Is it possible that your son was fooling around and hurt himself and when you asked him what happened he made up a story about an employee hurting him. Maybe so he wouldn't get in trouble with you for misbehaving. 5 year olds do things like that all the time (trust me, I raised 2 sons).

Right now it's your son's word against Pizza Hut's. You don't have a really strong argument.
