I purchased a Polaroid DVD recorder with 160gb Hard Drive in Feb 08 and withing 3 months there was a problem with the unit wouldn't power off and the incorrect volume from watching shows from the tuner. I notified Polaroid and they said to ship the unit back and they will send a replacement of course I had to pay for the shipment around $33. The second unit came and about a month the same problem so shipped this one back at another $33. Received the 3rd unit and had the same problem which was in October at this time I wanted a refund. 3 units with the same problem spells LEMON. They informed me that they couldn't do a refund but could do an advance exchange with FEDEX. Received the unit in November and within a week the same problem. I called them back and had to speak with a manager who agreed to a refund. I returned the item and they issued a cheque. I received the cheque on Dec 17th and deposited the cheque on the 18th of Dec. on Dec 31st I was notified by my bank that the cheque which was issued by Polaroid BOUNCED. Polaroid didn't notify me that the company declared bankruptcy all they said was that they are aware of the situation and will have more info in about a week. For a product which cost me originally 167.99 after paying shipping charges and the bounced check cost me about $250.00. Polaroid informed me that the percentage of defective products is 3%. For myself it was 100% defective there's no way in anyones math that they have a 97% rating. I have read other comments from other people on this unit and they have the same problem also. Polaroid doesn't stand behind what they sell and in my book should be out of business this is bad business practice. Who stands behind the consumer ??

Received a call from Polaroid to basically say that YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK and there's nothing they can do since the bankruptcy. I asked them if I would have received the refund when I asked for it in October if the check would of bounced then. She informed me no but at that time it wasn't an option to do a refund. I guess 3 faulty units wasn't good enough for them. BUYER BEWARE STAY AWAY FROM POLAROID. POLAROID AND HEMORRHOID ARE THE SAME A PAIN IN THE BUTT.
