Our company was charged by Polltext.com on numerous occasions regarding some type of phone texting services that we NEVER SUBSCRIBED for.  When discovered on our corporate phone bill, we immediately contacted Team Mobile and asked for these charges to be removed.  

Team Mobile then mentioned that they could only BLOCK not REFUND this service and we would have to call the SPAMMERS and ask for a REFUND directly.  

Let me get this straight.  A SPAM company finds our contact information, subscribes us for their service WITHOUT our consent, and then proceeds to CHARGE US $9.99 on occasion in the hopes we DO NOT READ OUR PHONE BILL.  TEAM MOBILE cannot produce any evidence that we subscribed to this service and are happy to apply the fees to our account.

We then called this company (877-550-5508) on 9/4/12 whose representative mentioned that someone accepted their Mobile Text advertisement by pressing CONTINUE TWICE, therefore being subject to the occasional $9.99 charge.  This is a COMPLETELY FALSE statement.  

Be advised that this relationship exists between Team Mobile and Mobile Spammers POLLTEXT.com. Please check your phone bill and ensure that this situation does not happen to you.

I have read Polltext's rebuttal and their double-opt out system is obviously not working.  I do not respond to unsolicited text messaging services and did not opt into this one.  

However, I will mention that Polltext did reimburse me for the $9.99 they charged to our phone account and I do appreciate their speedy response.  

I would ask that Polltext checks their opt in strategy.  Team Mobile mentioned that this is not the first time they have encountered this Polltext issue.

By way of background, Polltext is a premium mobile text service that provides its subscribers with weekly tips on the use of their smart phone which is sent via text message to their mobile phone.  The service is marketed in the application marketplace and via mobile web.  Subscribers are awarded loyalty points for each text tip they receive and may request additional text tips in addition to those sent weekly.  Loyalty points are redeemable for merchandise and gift cards.  We currently charge $9.99 a month which appears on our subscribers mobile phone bills.  We use an industry best practice double opt-in sign up process which is fully compliant with the Consumer Best Practices Guidelines published by the Mobile Marketing Association and the various guidelines published by the major mobile phone carriers and the CTIA.  It is important to note that the double opt-in process virtually insures that inadvertent or fraudulent sign-ups do not occur.  Only after a consumer has twice provided verification and authorization to bill their mobile telephone number on their mobile phone are services provided and charges incurred.  To further verify a prospective customer's registration for the Polltext service, we send a confirmatory text message which affords them the opportunity to cancel the service by replying STOP by text message.  We also provide a toll free customer service number in this text message that is manned 24 by 7 by 365. Please be advised that in our marketing of the service, we disclose all material terms of the service including the monthly cost, how the charges will appear on the subscribers mobile bill, a description of the essential features of the service and how to cancel.  We also include links to our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
