I called to let them know that and was prompted to "verify the last four digits of my social security number". I told them I wasn't giving them any information and that they needed to take my name off of their list. They then insisted that I send them a letter with various information disputing the debt. I told them where to shove it.
For the general public, this is very obviously a scam. If you look further down on the letter, there is a disclaimer "Because of the age of your debt, we will not sue you for it and we will not report it to any collection agency." That is because the entire letter is a scam, fishing to get people to pay them.
I will report them under the Fair Credit Reporting Act if this somehow shows up on my credit report and anyone else should do the same.
