Our story began approximately one year ago, when we purchased a brand-new king-sized mattress set from a dealer here in San Antonio. We couldn't afford a "top of the line" set, so we settled for a set that retailed for $599.00. It seemed nice enough and the owner of the retail outlet was eager to deliver it to us. (For $20, of course).

After about six months of sleeping on this bed, we noticed that both sides of the bed had begun to sink. We were shocked, as the set was still so new. I looked at the label sewn on the mattress and it reads that there is 15 year limited warranty on the mattress. I attempted to contact the retail outlet where we purchased the bed, only to learn he was out of business (That guy deserves his OWN rip-off report!). So, I started the process of trying to contact the manufacturer directly, as instructed on the warranty.

There was the city and state on the label, but no mailing address, so I decided to search online for this company and I DID find a website...but no phone numbers or addresses. So, using their online form, I e-mailed them, explaining my situation. I NEVER got so much as even a canned, automated response from this company. I then started contacting other retailers in town to see if any one else carried this brand of mattress, so that I could get some contact information. I finally found one other retailer, who gave me a phone number for the company. I called right away and was transferred all over the place until I ended up speaking to someone named Martin. I am sorry to say, Martin was not at all helpful, and was in fact, quite condesending. (He sounded as if he were laughing at me!)

He informed me that Posture Beauty would GLADLY honor their warranty - as soon as I figured out how to get the mattress to them for repairs! I couldn't believe this! I mean, I could see that it might be up to us to figure out how to get it to a retailer here in town, but how in the hell are we supposed to get it to Dallas? (Six hours away from us.) We have no truck, so we would have to rent a truck, or pay a shipping company and ship it, not to mention what are we supposed to sleep on while they repair it? I didn't even ask him how we were supposed to get it back from Dallas, as I assumed they would expect us to go pick it up as well. (All of which would involve us taking time off of work to accomplish the drop-off and pick-up!) This just seems so ridiculous to me! I mean, if I buy a new car, with a manufacturer's warranty on it, am I expected to get it to Detroit if something goes wrong with it? Of course not!

The end result of this company's (or at least this EMPLOYEE's) lack of williness to help us has resulted in only ONE thing: I don't get much sleep due to all the back trouble I am experiencing as this bed gets worse and worse. The bed is not even a year old and it already needs to be thrown out. We can't afford another bed. I wish I had known that "Rip-Off Report" was here all this time, as I might have found some help sooner! If anyone can help, we'd be VERY greatful!

Posture beauty mattress

AUTHOR: Loren - (United States of America)

I as well have purchased the Posture beauty mattress and box spring set. It was a wonderful set for the first year! I did as I was told I flipped it from top to bottom and front to back! And the coils in the mattress still were bending! Causing the mattress to give a deep sag in the middle!! I work all day to go to sleep in a bed I payed $1,300 for to wake up all night long due to my back hurting! I called the company for them to tell me the 20 YEAR warranty stitched on my mattress is a limited warranty and its up to the dealer to replace my set!

So could someone please explain to me the point of taking the time to stitch a vary large patch on my mattress that states a 20 year warranty if its not a warranty at all and just for looks!! I do not have the money to go right out to the store and buy my self a new one nor should I have to! I now have to see a back Dr on a regular bases and still have no money to by myself a new set!! So yes I think this company ripped me off!! Sham on you for falsely advertising your products and taking the the money of a single widowed military mom!! Sincerely Loren Jan 7th 2013

We bought a Posture Beauty "Ultra Premium Collection" and have absolutely loved it.

We got it from a dealer that has been in business about 40 years.

#3 Consumer Suggestion

Be aware of what you're getting into

AUTHOR: Morgan - (Canada)

I am a manger of a furniture store in Alberta, Canada and I would like to respond to the report about Posture Beauty. With mattresses, like electronics there are two types of warranties, prorated and non-prorated. The difference is this, with prorated warranties (or guarantees) you will need to cover costs, such as shipping or just some certain percentage for a replacement. (It varies depending on how long you've owned it) And no, they do not offer anything for you to use while it is being repaired. This is standard practice for this type of warranty, they were not trying to rip you off. The non-prorated warranties are simply fixed or replaced free of charge. This is the type of warranty you want. Your salesperson definately should have let you know the difference, but it is also important as a consumer to ask questions about what you are purchasing and what exactly the coverage is. Don't be afraid to ask questions before you buy, furniture and mattresses are a large purchase and you need to know what you're getting into. It's an expensive mistake but I guess now you know for next time.

we have learned a lesson.

AUTHOR: Andria - (U.S.A.)

I am the original poster on this company. Just happend to be looking around her a VERY long time later.

In response to the rebuttal posted by Angela, yes, we flipped and rotated the mattress regularly - at least once a month...and when we did, we would get about a night of decent sleep on it, and be back to back aches again. Yes, the original retailer was a crook, however, on the manufacturer's warranty, which is sewn onto the mattress, it clearly states to contact them if you can not resolve your problem thru the retailer. We did that....only to find out we would have had to pay a shipper to ship this mattress to/from Dallas to get it "repaired". A decent manufacturer would have done what they could to help us arrange shipment thru another local dealer or SOMETHING. Not just tell us they would honor their warranty if we figure out how to get it to them. They made their money, and they don't care.

Needless to say, that mattress set ended up at the Goodwill, and we bought a new, $1200 Sealy set that we are MORE then satisfied with. We had originally purchased a Restonic, but it started sinking after about a month so the retailer gladly replaced it with a set of our choosing (the Sealy set). It's over and done with and we have learned a lesson.

#5 UPDATE Employee

I am the manager of a mattress store that sells posturebeauty mattress. My mother is the owner.

AUTHOR: Angela - (U.S.A.)

my comment is that whomever tnis customer bought the mattress from is the one that should be on the rip off report not posture beauty.
when any one sells a mattress, unless their just trying to "take your money and run" we not only tell them about the warranty and how to take care of the mattress, but also if they have any problems to please not hesitate to call me and I will do anything I can to help.

I am very sorry she got conned by someone that didnt have a very good reputation but you cant blame the company for your own mistakes.

I would also like to know if she was ever told to flip the mattress.
