I owe several years back taxes to the IRS and the state. After receiving a letter from the IRS demanding payment, I called them. They told me to send 20,000 (for 1 year of back taxes) in 30 days or they would levy everything. I panicked and ended up calling Preferred Tax Relief. They told me not to worry my tax problems where over, and that they were Ex-IRS Attorneys, CPAs and Tax Practitioners (experts) and I was in good hands. They knew how to deal with the IRS better than anyone. Well feeling relief already since speaking with the IRS, I really thought I was in good hands. Little did I know. I willingly send them 4500.00 which seems to be more than most people where hiring them for now that I have done my research. There normal charge seems to be 3500.00. I guess knowing I had spoke with the IRS and been treated so harshly gave them opportunity to bleed me just a bit more. In November of 2008 I sent the money and then nothing. I kept calling them and they said don't worry. Finally in January 2009 (2 months have gone by) they said I needed to be compliant before they could do anything. This is when I first felt they were scamming me. I asked if they could do my tax forms for me and they told me that would be an additional 500.00 for each year that I had to file. (7 years total) So immediately I did my federal tax forms and sent them in. I asked them about the state forms and they said they would take care of that after. Bob Hanna called me in April 2009 and said we needed to get the state forms in so that we could get a better deal to take care of everything at once and this would be the best thing to do. That would give them more negotiating power with both the federal and state tax offices. He said for an additional 3500.00 I would be delighted and it would all be over by June 1st, 2009. I was shocked as the state was suppose to be included in the 4500.00. Well, it is now July 20th, 2009 and I just spoke with Preferred Tax Relief to see how things where going (waiting for penalty and interest abatment or a compromise) and they where doing nothing. I was asked personal financial information over the phone when I first contacted Preferred Tax Relief in November of 2008. I was promised penalty and interest abatement as they said I qualified for that after giving them that personal information. They were also suppose to be working on an offer of compromise for reduced taxes. At one time David Bercrilli told me he was going to place me in a non collectable status with the IRS ( I qualify). I was told when on the phone with them today (July 20, 2009) by Gumecindo Leal that I would have to be in a comma for five years to qualify for any penalty abatement or tax relief, and that I was a tax evader and I needed to pay, and there was no way out. I have gone round and round on the phone with each of these scam artists who promised me everything and delivered nothing. I finally called them on it today and they basically told me to go fly a kite. I asked for a full refund and they laughed and hung up. Oh, and by the way, I now owe more taxes than ever. Between June 18th and July 18th, my taxes went up almost another 4000.00. My original tax debt to IRS was 22,000.00 And the state was 7000.00. I now owe the IRS 59000.00 and the state 15000.00. Thank You Preferred Tax Relief for Your Help Straight To Bankruptcy Court! I wish I would have just sent to IRS the 20,000.00.
