which happens to be elderly and lost her savings believing in their sales pitch to become a member.
She lost thousands of dollars and can't sell a thing but, shes told she can't promote on the internet. when that's the only way possible to make a sale these days by advertising who she is as an independent seller.
Of course they are debt free people, because the debt fell onto the individual sellers shoulders. They didn't want to take the risk by selling their own products. So, yeah it chaps my hide knowing they've scammed so many people. No one has time to go door to door to sell and working families don't have the time for home shows. They charge over 900 in kits and over 300 in member ship fees!

I want to start off with the fact that I completely understand where you're coming from. I am a former independent distributor (I know you weren't) and the initial agreement when I started sounded too good to be true. 50% of EVERYTHING I sell?? Now, $900 seems like a lot of money (face it, it is), but if you're one of those people who ends up being really really good at this type of thing, that's like...2 home shows. You can make that up quickly. And the $300 you can make it one! It's definitely a social occupation and the people are so genuine and nice it makes me cringe thinking about it. I think the no selling online is a good idea while you're selling it. It takes away the social media factor and lets people really sit down and have fun getting to know one another and enjoy jewelry face to face.
If you're not good at this thing (like I was), you can lose most of that money and it takes a while to get it back. In the year and a half I was a "jewelry lady" I only had about 6-7 home shows. It's just not something I was good at! I took out a Premier card and everything and then when I couldn't pay that off in 6 months they charged me the full interest on the initial intro charge for the jewelry set that I started with! I was pretty d*mn pissed about that one, but they explained it to me and I re-read the contract and, yep, it was stated in there that if I didn't pay the 6 months interest free off by the 6 month mark, the total interest would be added.
Basically, yes, I'm pissed that I lost a crap ton of money with this endeavor (still trying to see if I can sell them online, as I have like "$700" worth of jewelry, at LEAST, lying around. I just wanted to point out that Premier is NOT a scam. I was not charged the renewal fee because you have to manually go in and renew it anyway. Not sure how your friend was charged without her knowledge. They sent me e-mails every freaking week like 3 months before it expired. Of course I never renewed it. Pfft. I suck at selling jewelry! Ah, well. They are not the best made, no, but they are better than the stuff you buy in the fashion jewelry section at a department store. I just never bought the fishhook earrings - they ALWAYS broke.
Honestly I just googled trying to see if I could resell them online after not being a jeweler for like 8 months and this post came up. Thanks for the clarification this seems like a pain in the butt. I can understand while you're still a jeweler, but afterwards? Like seriously? Sorry for your friend's misfortune. Hope it got/gets resolved.

Sorry to say, NO MATTER what anyone tells you about the company, you are not going to listen. It seems like you are the only person who has a complaint about this company and you have NEVER worked for them. I don't see anyone who has actually worked for Premier, post anything negative. Yes it is a multi level marketing company (not a scam). You don't make a dime from anyone you recruit unless you are working the business, selling jewelry yourself. As a jeweler who recruits another jeweler, you have a vested interest as well as a responsibility to help them to become successful.
There are plenty of people in Premier who just sell the jewelry on their own without recruiting anyone. Recruiting is optional although encouraged in order to grow your business. Sounds like you may have overpaid for the jewelry you bought from your elderly friend in order to help her and now you are regretting your purchase. So sorry. You need to let it go, move on. Holding on to that much anger is not good for you or anyone who you come in contact with. God Bless.
Also, my upline, the people who recieve a commission check based on my profit , definitely deserve it! They work with me whenever and with whatever I need. There are also free workshops you can attend put on by other jewelers and Ive actually won money at them. Lastly, that money they make does not come out of my pocket, its Premier that pays them. If the woman your talking about isnt able to do homeshows, she can do catalog shows. Just give the book to friends and have them get orders at work and from family. She still makes 50% of the sales.

"Multi-level marketing (MLM) is a marketing strategy in which the sales force is compensated not only for sales they personally generate, but also for the sales of the other salespeople that they recruit. This recruited sales force is referred to as the participant's "downline", and can provide multiple levels of compensation.[1] Other terms for MLM include pyramid selling,[2][3][4][5][6] network marketing,[7][8][9] and referral marketing.[10]Most commonly, the salespeople are expected to sell products directly to consumers by means of relationship referrals and word of mouth marketing.[1]Some people use direct selling as a synonym for MLM, although MLM is only one type of direct selling, which started centuries ago withpeddling.[1][7][11]MLM companies have been a frequent subject of criticism as well as the target of lawsuits. Criticism has focused on their similarity to illegal pyramid schemes, price fixing of products, high initial entry costs (for marketing kit and first products), emphasis on recruitment of others over actual sales, encouraging if not requiring members to purchase and use the company's products, exploitation of personal relationships as both sales and recruiting targets, complex and sometimes exaggerated compensation schemes, the company making major money off its training events and materials, and cult-like techniques which some groups use to enhance their members' enthusiasm and devotion.[10][12]"
Appears to meet ALL the criteria of a pyramid scheme including the "cult" which in this case they are using Christian religion for.

I agree with a previous post that if your elderly friend is having difficulty with her relationship with Premier it may help her if she called the home office, (800) 486-7378. Every time I have called them they have answered with, "How may I serve you." My experience with Premier (2 years now) has lead to my belief in their philosophies.
Premier was started on Christian philosophies. They were founded in order to help mothers be able to spend more time with their children as well as help pay the bills. They also donate a portion of their earnings to missionaries. You can find more about why they started the company here, http://www.premierdesigns.com/about.html.
I wanted to address the portion where you called Premier a pyramid scheme. I understand how you could be concerned about this. Premier does have something called your 10-10-10. This is a "family" in which a Premier jewelry lady sponsors a new jeweler, and that new jeweler sponsors someone else. The second jeweler and the third jeweler are considered the first jewelry lady's down line. The first jewelry lady does make a commission off of her down line, while the second jeweler makes a commission off of the jeweler she sponsors.
I understand that this concept sounds like a pyramid scheme, however, there is a main reason it is not. This is due to the fact that the first jewelry lady does not make a single cent in commission if she does not reach a total of $600 in retail or $300 in CV. This is because Premier does not want it's jewelers hiring new ladies into the company and letting them flounder, and ultimately letting their business die out.
Also, Premier Designs jewelry is advertised as High Fashion jewelry. It is not of the highest quality and I am not one to practice saying it is. I describe my jewelry as a higher quality then the jewelry you could buy at a children's store such as Claire's, however, it is not as high quality as that you will find at Kay or Jared's. It is what you may refer to as glorified costume jewelry you can wear daily.
Premier encourages the jewelers to help one another in building their businesses by sharing ideas and cheering one another on. They understand that direct sales is a difficult business to be part of, but they also have many tips and tricks of the trade that they share with their jewelers in order to help them promote their business.
It is true that Premier does not allow it's jewelers to sell the jewelry online. This is due to the fact that they have researched selling online and found that it makes selling more difficult for it's jewelers, this is also why the catalog is not available online. Premier prides itself on face to face communication with our customers. By building relationships with our customers we are able to enrich their lives by helping them with not only what necklace they should wear to their outings, but by being able to update their wardrobe for free, and being there for them, face to face, if they ever need us.
I agree, when I first started selling I wasn't sure what to do if I wasn't able to sell my jewelry online. I finally found that I can create a customer base by going to friends and family and asking them to have a party for me, I never wanted to go door to door - and I never did. By going to my friends and family and having them hold parties for me, I was able to meet their friends and their family, and so on and so forth increasing my customer base.
The one thing that Premier offers that increased my ability to broaden my customer base seven-fold was their hostess plan. Premier offers the most generous hostess plan in direct sales. I'm constantly giving away hundreds of dollars worth of jewelry to my hostesses with minimal cost to me. I believe the highest jeweler fee I pay for hostess incentives is $20 when I'm giving my hostess of $200 worth of free jewelry. I wouldn't be able to find hostesses if it weren't for this plan.
I understand your feelings with Premier. I believe there has been some mis-communication between the company and yourself, and I hope that there is a way to rectify it, even if it is picking up the phone and having a civil conversation with Premier. I'm sure they would be willing to help you figure out where the dilemma occurred.
Again, I apologize on behalf of the consultant who pushed your elderly friend into being a consultant. I believe there should be no pressure in joining a direct sales company, people need to figure out which company works best with their situation, not be battered into joining a company just to find out it's not the right fit.
I hope this post helps you to understand Premier a bit more, and if you have any more questions about the business, or would like to speak to someone who may know more about the situation, I encourage you to call Premier's head quarters.
God Bless

Premier has stolen money from this lady without her permission out of her bank acct in renewal fees and never offered an apology or her money back. They were well informed she wanted to cancel membership in advance due to their harassment. Had the recruiting rep explained the screwed up polices in the first place she would have never gotten conned into selling it. Just because I purchased the stock doesn't mean I'm obligated to their policies!
They should be more focused on canceling the accts of the conning reps that prey on the elderly for quick money. Any ligament company looking to employ people don't ask for money or demand they only go door to door to sell items they can't on their own. Moreover, place a butt load of selling restrictions on them keeping them from performing their job duties.
You are seriously misguided, lady. Do some more investigating into the company before you quickly defend them. Think twice before calling me a liar lady I don't tolerate disrespect, Learn some manners,

I am outraged at the way my elderly friend was harassed and misled into becoming a rep that resulted her her going into debt. I purchased her stock so she can make some of her money back and be done with it. Preimer was the one harrassing her after she sold me the stock. The took her money a second time to charge her membership fee for renewal then shut her account down. She already informed them upon selling her stock to me, she didnt want to be a member any longer. That didnt stop them from taking her money then denying her to right to sell and be a member.
And their excuse was they shut her down was because I teamed up with her to sell the crap which is bull snot

You started out saying "I, I, I" and then your last statement it turned into "we, we, we" as if you teamed up with this "elderly" woman. Your comments "Now I'm trying to get rid of it (whole mess of jewelry you bought) as its very cheaply made and highly over-priced" and "I buy from an Independent seller like everyone else." leads me to my theory.
I have been in this industry (working for the corporate headquarters) for some time and have looked into Premier Designs as a consultant in the past. If a consultant is having difficulties, needs to unload some inventory, or decides to close up shop, they are encouraged to reach out to other consultants who might be interested in purchasing inventory.
In my opinion, this was not an option in this case because why sell to another consultant for what you paid (discounted cost) when you can have someone else sell your inventory under their name for full (or near) book price. Let it be known that if you indeed teamed up with this elderly consultant to make money (against her contract) it will be found out.
If this is the case and you are lashing out and flailing your arms about because you got caught up. Childish. I am a business owner and it strikes a royal nerve when people are dishonest and try to pull scams. People rely on honest reviews when making business decisions. Hissy fits are huge distractions and are not fair to the people that work harder than those that work 9-5 or don't work at all. (I work 7 days a week and a lot of times 15 - 20 hours a day.) I really wish people would treat other people how they wish to be treated. I think that mentality would cure 100% of our issues.
If I'm wrong about my opinion then I apologize but, I'm sure if this was a completely honest incident it would not have been escalated.

Saying that we can sell it how we want is a lie. We cannot sell the products on line are promote it in anyway. We are forced to go door to door and book home shows. We loose all our money invested when our memberships are canceled right after signup. They clearly make their money preying on people signing up to sell the mess.
EBay clearly allows our listings to sell it, as we have first right of sale. But that doesn't mean premier is not checking all the listings and harassing people to stop selling it, especially if they are an premier seller.
Stop bashing the little guy trying the sell this crap. We have ligitment complaints. You refuse to see it and protect your darn company

If the jeweler that your 74 year old friend signed up under was unscrupulous in their pushing her to join, then she should contact Premier and let them know. Maybe they can assist, or at least do something about this person giving their company a bad name. There are, in every business, bad people. You cannot judge every company based on one person. I'm sorry about your elderly friend. I would recommend that she find another Premier jeweler in the area to see if they will buy any of her jewelry. I've bought jewelry from other jewelers before when they decided they didn't want to do the business anymore for whatever reason.
I signed up for Premier last February and made back my money in less than 6 months. When I signed up, there was an application fee, but there was no requirement to purchase jewelry. Nope - no requirement. It makes sense to have samples, but you are given options to fit your financial comfort zone so your research on this topic is incomplete. If someone wants to start out with just the catalogs, they are able to do that. I am currently doing this "job" on a very part time basis - along with a full time job and am making a profit.
Yes, there is commission paid on your "down line", but what you fail to understand is that it is not a requirement to have people sign up under you. If you don't want to have a downline, you don't have to have one! A jeweler makes the same percentage from their sales regardless of how many people are underneath them, if any, and there is a minimum amount a jeweler has to sell each month in order to receive commission. In other words, the jeweler can't just sit back and rely on their downline for income. Additionally, the company encourages jewelers to help their downline succeed and the commission is practically a reward for taking the time to help your downline be successful.
I'm not sure why you are so angry about Premier. If you don't like the company - don't sign up. I am sorry that your friend got taken for a ride, but remember - it was the person who pushed her that is at fault, not Premier. Take your anger out where it belongs.

Its the way premier has designed its company which makes all reps look bad. They will continue to be a debt free company as long as people fall for their bad selling practices. They take no risks at all because its the reps that loose money trying to sell shoddy products. Never once has this company taken the time to sell its own products because they don't want to waste their time and money so the debt falls upon the reps.

And I guess you think that if people work hard they shouldn't get an increase in money? So companies should never give raises or promote anyone. So, Commission at places like Macy's is wrong. And, Managers and anyone who is a boss should not get any increase in payment if they work harder. Ohhh, ok. I see.
Well, that's cool. But, I am just letting the truth be known. If you want to keep coming up with come backs like "the company still pays you more when you bring new people to the company" than ok. Go on.
Premier unlike many other companies is not concerned with how many people they have. If you took any time to actually find out about the company besides arguing and fighting with the company than you would see that.

Premier Designs is not a scam nor is it a pyramid scam. Look up definition of pyramid scam and you will see. I am an independent consultant with premier and you can make back the payment in 5 shows. In fact, I made it back in 3. If you have never sold, than don't make a complaint about something you do not know about. If you are not a consultant, than why did you buy the kit. Buying the kit and signing up means you are a consultant unless you end your contract with premier. If you paid a lot of money for a bunch of Jewelry that is your own fault for doing so without knowing anything or putting in any effort to actually work the business. Look up Suzie Orman or Dave Ramsey, both are financial experts and have said many a time that direct sales is the best industry to get into in this economy. You have your own business, you work when you want as long as you put in effort. You have Job security! Who doesn't want that! No one i know in Premier is in debt. I find it extremely hard to believe someone would be out 1000 dollars unless they were spending the money that was to be sent to premier as the Jeweler makes 50% profit and must send 50% back to the company. If you have not sent the money back than you are the one who is dishonest and deserves to be out money. Premier Designs has a Golden Guarantee and if anything is wrong with the Jewelry it can be exchanged or returned at no cost within the time period. If you have something for a year and you wear it everywhere and treat it badly than it is your own fault. Premier is very generous with the Golden Guarantee. They are debt free because they are a good company. There will always be nay sayers with everything, I know but learn your facts before you go complaining about something that you got yourself into! And, working families love home shows, it gives them a break to relax. And, women love to get together. Also, Premier's hostess benefits can not be beat. Check any other company.

You should find these 2 websites and print the CASE LAW information and give it to your attorney-case law is essential to your sucessful defense of the lawsuit against you and a possible countersuit against them for a frivolous and harassing lawsuit. As the plaintiff against an ebay reseller, they knew or should have known that you were protected by the "First Sale Doctrine" and you might be successful in seeking damages against THEM.
Good luck.

Chantel was pretty much trying to force me into paying for the kit and membership fees because there was no contract to hold me to. I agree it was best to fight it with an attorney but, if I had the money to do so I wouldn't be trying to sell on the eBay right now.
I honestly think they should screen their worker's backgrounds before they claim they are such a christian company. Their bullies
Ebay is required by the DMCA (digital millenium copyright act) to allow you to ANSWER the "take down notice" that they received from this woman. First Sale Doctrine has been settled in the courts, spefically as it applies to Ebay. If you do an internet search for "first sale doctrine ebay" you will find more information. Many folks have fought such "take down" notices succesfully with Ebay and the courts.
Whenever an entity issues a take down notice to an internet service (in this case Ebay) the offender (you) has a right to submit a rebuttal to the take down notice.
And please explain to me why the heck am I actively being sued then.
In my opinion, this is a bullying tactic and at least with you, it appear to be working. You might consider consulting with an attorney. You might be able to countersue them.
Good luck.

It doesn't take business away from consultants because when you buy Premier off ebay, you don't get the "Golden Guarantee" where you can exchange something that breaks in the first 60 days.
I have to disagree when you said they scam people. Everyone knows jewelry in general is marked up like crazy, so you could argue that every company that sells jewelry is scamming. Also, the most expensive kit you can buy is not over $900, it's $750 and you get $2,500 worth of jewelry with that kit.
The application fee IS over $300 - $395 to be exact. And this covers all your materials you'd need to do a show for the first 6-9 shows (catalogs, order forms, presentation flyers, DVD with mock home shows, welcome DVD, Binder with tips, access to jewelers only website, AND they have accountants that file your state taxes for you every single month. You don't have to worry about that at all! It's a huge weight off my shoulders to know that I don't have to deal with the math involved there. That $395 amounts to about $33 a month.
I paid off my investment in the business in 5 home shows!
