at its best!

Went to the Tacoma mall the other day. Walked past the premiere dead sea salt kiosk and was given a sample of their product. I thought that was nice, spoke to the salesperson for ..what I thought would be a short sales pitch..I was wrong. I participated in the demo they do (hand scrubbing with the salts), listened to the sales pitch, blah blah blah... Once I heard that all of their products were. 69.95 a piece, I decided I was done hearing about their product. Long story short, I had a very hard time getting away from the salesperson. He kept asking me questions...some that we're none of his business actually. Once I finally got away, I left feeling bait bullied. Not a professional business..also their products can be found on amazon for a third of the price! I am disappointed in the Tacoma Mall, after I left that kiosk stand, another kiosk stand employee tried to suck me in to hear their pitch. I was more forceful and just kept walking. I don't appreciate being ambushed by these kiosk workers. If I am interested in their booth, I will stop and inquire. Tacoma mall just isn't what it used to be. It will be a long time before I go back there...if ever.

Just walk away

AUTHOR: Ramjet - (U.S.A.)

You don't even owe them a "no thanks".  Just walk away.  They are trained to do just exactly what they did.  I know many of us are brought up to be polite but sometimes you have to forget that and turn your back on them.  They won't care, they'll just turn to the next 'mark'.

It's their job.

Sales pitches.

AUTHOR: Flynrider - (USA)

I don't see the ripoff.  What you describe is a common sales pitch.  The problem is that you appear to lack the power to ingore them.     You do not owe them anything.   Just walk away.

"  Long story short, I had a very hard time getting away from the salesperson.  "

Unless you're being forcibly detained, this should be as easy as saying, "No, thank you" and walking away.

"  He kept asking me questions...some that we're none of his business actually.  "

Why would you feel obligated to hang around and respond to intrusive questions?  The fact that this actually kept you there meant that the sales person was doing his job correctly.   Salesmen love people who will not walk away, even when they become abrasive.    Those people are most likely to buy something they neither want nor need.    Don't be one of those people.
