So I get up in the morning to check my bank account to see if my rent check had cleared and to my surprise I had a levy put on my bank account from a company called Pressler and Pressler. I called the office several times (which I have recorded conversations) to try and find out what this is all about and they were nothing but rude and ignorant. They would NOT give me any information, just kept saying that it was their money now and there is nothing I can do about it. I pulled my credit report to see what was going on and there was a judgment entered under a name of New Century Financial, With Pressler and Pressler as the lawyers. Who the heck is New Century Financial and why do I have a judgment entered against me? Can not get any information.
Now my rent check is going to bounce and I have no idea how to fix this or who to contact. I started to look up the names Pressler and Pressler and New Century Financial and not to my surprise they are being reported as a fraud company!!! How can they freeze my account?? I am beside myself with this and do not know what to do. I have called several times and asked for documentation on what this is about and they told me they do not have to prove anything to me. That they can do what ever they want. I have recorded the conversations and I can not believe how they speak....so unprofessional. Any suggestions? Any help would be great. I do not want to lose my place where I live and I do not want them to take MY MONEY that does not belong to them!!!!

I need help big time....I have this company called Pressler and Pressler that has been harrassing me for almost a year now. I moved to Pennsylvania in 2004, I originally lived in NJ before that. This company some how placed a judgement against me in 2006 in New jersey. From what i understand, they have to file with the courts in the state you live in. So i never got the court papers, did not even know I had a judgement against me. I get papers in August of 2007 stating that they were levying my checking account with Wachovia in caldwell, NJ. First of all, i did not open the account in NJ, it was done online, secondly I banked in PA, cause that is where I live. When i called pressler and pressler to find out what this was about, they were very rude. And basically kept saying i should have paid my bills and did not answer anything I was asking them. I even recorded the conversation because it was amazing to me that they would NOT give me any information. I sent letters trying to get the debt validated, to the courts and to pressler and pressler. The only information I ever got was that a New Century Financial was the original creditor, which I have no clue who they are.
So, in a mist of weeks, they levyed my account and took all my money. funny thing is, I have no idea how they got my information that I had an account at wachovia, which I did not have long at all, maybe 6 months. This all happened in Septemeber 2007.
I just started working for Bank of America in PA, like 5 weeks ago. today i got in the mail that they are going to garnish my wages. The court they are filing with is in NJ. They served a Bank Branch of Bank of america papers in Bloomfield, NJ. And are claiming I work in Utica NY. Now, if I work in the credit card department in a call center in PA, which I am still in training BTW. Why would they serve papers to a bank branch and not the corporate office. And why are they claiming I work in NY? Also, why will they not validate the debt, to show WHO they are collecting for?
I feel like my privacy is being invaded and I also feel like this Pressler and Pressler is paying people off in these Branches to get people's information. What can I do? Is this legal?

The same thing happened to me, with my rent. I paid them. DO NOT DO THAT! I've been reading some of the posts here, and one advises that you do not speak to them or admit the debt. I'm not even sure I owed the debt I paid them. I just didn't know what to do, and having your checking account frozen is very a big power tactic. One person here said she fought them in court and won. I would make them prove the debt, where they got it from, etc., if I were you.
They must do this before the beginning of the month on purpose, so that you agree to do something stupid so that your rent gets paid. Don't get shook! Find another way to pay the rent and do what you have to not to give these jerks your hard-earned money.
