When bidding for a choose your own price, only two hotels with the correct Stars and Amenities were listed in my "area". Both were within a mile of where I wanted to be, so I booked it.

The hotel they booked was not on their list and was at the very edge (fartherest) point from where their other hotels were.

Within two minutes of booking I had customer service tell me "too bad", and customer relations agent tell me no way they would change it ever after I eplained that walking in this area after dark would endanger my life. No sympanthy, they only want the money. Customer service was not in US of course.

I offered to upgrade and pay more for a different area, but they had my credit card. Since they don't take American Express, I should have know better.

Now I have to wait for posting and see if VISA will let me dispute the charge. No service rendered and notification that they did not deliver what was displayed.

This company and its business pratices should be outlawed in the US. Very much a bait and switch.

Why do you leave it up to some 3rd party to book your room. Pick up the phone or go directly to the hotel's own web site and leave the middle man out of it. Now the hotel has to deal with your complaint AND pay Priceline their commission on a cancelled reservation. As they saying goes; you get what you pay for. BOOK DIRECT with someone standing in the hotel.... not someone possibly in another country who will never have to deal with you if you do not get what you want. I can not believe consumers in this day and age just go to the internet and do not even know where you are booking.

Your dispute will go nowhere...


Right before you submit your bid there is a page of "Important Information".  On this page it states in part the following....

 If priceline accepts your price, priceline will book your reservation in a property with an equal or higher star level than you requested. Please note it is possible that the hotel you are booked in could be a Resort, which will meet or exceed the minimum qualifications of the star level you initially requested. The hotel that is selected may or may not be one that you have seen during a hotel search on pricelineAny sorting or filtering options previously used will not apply to this Name Your Own Price request. Priceline will immediately charge your credit card the total cost of your stay. Rooms purchased through priceline cannot be cancelled, changed or transferred and refunds are not allowed. If your offer is not accepted, your credit card will not be charged.

I underlined the couple of sections that would be of interest to you.  Oh and if you try to say you didn't see this.  Well unlike other sites, they actually make you TYPE in your Initials that says you have READ and AGREED to the terms of your bid.

In the future if you have specific requirements for a Hotel, Flight..etc.  You do not want to do a Name your Own Price because you can not 100% guarantee what you will get, and if you don't get what you wanted..you are stuck.  But that does not make it a RipOff.
