OK. So it is clear that I am not alone. This is a great site. Wish I had found it sooner! OK - I expected that the qualifying would be diffucult, so I was very careful to ensure that I entered everything for each "offer" exactly the same as my initial registration. This way, hopefully the computer would have an easy time matching satisfied offers up with my record. That part worked great. They showed that I qualified with all 6 offers in 5 weeks and was given the opportunity to send in my voucher. My award - a Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop.

I thought I had actually found a good thing and that it would happen. I sent in the voucher - delivery confirmation - and it arrived October 21 2004. I am still waiting for the system to show that they received it!

Since that time, I see they have gone through a couple of name changes and are now the useful.com. There was a new link for a voucher, which generated new numbers than what the original voucher had. So I sent that in too. Still nothin.

I also have sent three online support requests and one email to find out what is going on. Nothin.

Called the 866-301-7260 number and left a message. Nothin.

The latest is this - On this site I was able to find the number for Jilliane Quiroz. 561-306-1915. I called on a whim - SHE ANSWERED THE PHONE! I almost dropped dead. I didn't even know what to say. Anyway - after a few moments of awkward silence I was able to give her my story. She took my information and said she would have to get back to me. She was very nice and not at all what I expected (someone ticked that all these people were calling).

OK - so now I wait. I JUST made this call. 12:05 EST 5-Jan-05. Let's see where it leads. I'll let you all know!

Yep - the laptop showed up yesterday! I owe it ALL to this board. I know that nothing would have happened had I not been able to review what other people had done and been able to get the contact information left by those who went before me...

So that's it. The company WILL pay out if you come after them. I can't believe it!

Here's the final summary:

Started September 23:

-Got 2 weeks free rentals from blockbuster.com
-2 months free AOL (which I ran on top of my broadband)
-2 months free AOL music
-Paid $15 for 2 pounds of gourmet coffee
-Paid $35 for gourmet tea
-Paid $150 for some nonsense credit builder thingy
-Got a discover card
-Got a new Dell 100 Laptop!

Cancelled all trials prior to being billed.

Total outlay (including postage for sending in the vouchers)-$204.75!

And now, I can finally deactivate that email address and stop seeing all the junk mail fly by my filter. Total Junk mails received since Sept 23 = 13,825. Can you believe that?

Might be working!

When we last left our saga, I told you that I had gotten through to Jillian and that she was very nice and seemed quite helpful. Shee took my information and I was waiting for a call back. SHE DID IT! She called me back a few hours later and told me that she had shown that they had received my voucher but that the system was not showing it. She informed me that my laptop was indeed on order and that it should arrive in 3 weeks.

OK - for all of you who may try to get through to this person, there are some things I would like you to know:

First, she is very nice. She is not the owner of the company or some big high up. She is just someone who can help.

Second, this is her cell phone. Which explains why she picked it up. You know, we can be as pissed as we want about the company and the potential jerking around that we are getting. Don't take it out on this girl by harassing her on her cell.

Last, she wants to help. If you are a dick, you're probably not going to get on her good side. When I asked how she could be so nice when she must get bombarded by calls, she responded that she did not know how everybody was getting her number, but she was OK with it becuase she was helping people out. She subsequently found out it was posted here.

So that's it. I am not sure how to feel about the company because I am not sure I would have gotten anything if I did not speak up. I don't like that they might be playing games like this. I also have still not received the laptop!!!

I'll keep you updated. By the way, I have been keeping all the email I received as a result of going through this as a seperate email address. So far, I have received 12,545 junk mails on that address!! I'm up to about 160 a day!
