Our light bill averages 66.00 a month if we don't turn on the field lights. When we were forced to turn them on one time our bill went to $461.70. Now whether we turn them on or not we are charged that amount for 12 straight months. It is known as an on demand charge for just in case. Raleigh North Carolina

We are a non profit Org. for youth age 3-16 to play Baseball & Softball. We understand how our electric bill will increase alot if we use the field lights. So we try to get games in before dark. One saturday evening it clouded up and we were forced to turn on the field lights. Well our average bill a month was around 66.00. The Month of May we recieved a bill for 461.70 we paid the bill.

Well the end of June we recieved the exact same bill 461.70. When I contacted Progress Enegry they said because we used the lights one time we were placed in the On Demand List. Progress Energy stated we would be charged this amount for the next 12 mos and the charge is to guarantee the KW's would be available just in case we needed it. So no matter what we use our bill is at least $461.70 unless we use more then it would increase. There is no way we haveenough money to last through the year so if I can't find help we are out of business.
