 The actual name is Progressive Casualty Co Inc but most people think of it as Flo with Progressive.

"Sales Representative" at Progressive means a verbatim scripted customer service job giving quotes. Selling is expected but let's say you want to sell 100 policies per month. Then, all other things being equal, you make the same money as the person sitting next to you selling only 30 per month. In other words, if you want to get paid for your production then Progressive is NOT for you.

There are NO incentives, NO bonuses based on your production, no commissions. Management says they have seen sales reps get extra checks for 100s of $$ but no sales rep ever mentions such income. What they do mention is a lousy 10cent/hour raise for excellent sales numbers and other statistics.

From 10+ year veterans to new recruits the story is the same: a confusing, inconsistent management style that leads to OVER-SUPERVISING week after week. No expectations are established for new employees apparently so management can "catch" them making mistakes. A management technique at Progressive is to keep telling you you are making a mistake even after you have corrected it. This happens to various employees in different job areas.

Some are lucky and don't have a supervisor like many do who evaluates and nit picks every phrase. But all are phone drones forced to repeat the same word-for-word scripting over and over.

Regardless how long an employee has been at Progressive there is a pattern of management playing "gotcha" to criticize the employee for variations from scripting. Veteran reps avoid their supervisors with issues because they expect to be blamed for whatever the issue is.

There is a psychology class that employees are required to attend where a shrink in a video tells you that IF YOU LOSE RESPECT FOR YOUR SUPERVISOR, SHOOT YOURSELF. That's real cozy. Even if that is intended as a joke? it is not funny. And what does that tell you about the management style at Progressive?

HR encourages employees to rat on each other.

and "over-supevised?"  If all is as you say, it's definitely NOT a place to stay and make a career out of.  Or have you already been fired?
