I am not a trusting person when someone comes knocking at my door selling anything. But on June 6, 2011 when a high schhol/college looking girl came to my door I softened. Being unemployed at the time I was reluctant to buy, but as the girl continued her "speel" about earning points for a trip to wherever and having all the materials (magazine choses, legit. looking order forms and so on) I decided to order. I have seen these materials when students from the area had sold magazines in previous years so I thought I was safe. She continued trying to persuade me to buy more even after I had bought 2 subscriptions totaling $114.00.....

The girl also said her father had just recently moved to this town from the city which we have many do, and she even gave me the street address which I was familiar with, but this also turned out to fraudulant, someone else lives there.

I guess I should have gone with my "gut instincts" when the girls supposedly boyfriend called her on her cell phone 4 times in the 30 minutes she was here and the fact that she was very hyper and rambled on about acting in some recent movie, and her father being so protected because she was so pretty- HER WORDS EXACTLY.

Have not been able to reach Progressive Readers, of course, and the Citenzen National Bank in Paintsville, KY, where my check was cashed was of no help.

I just hope something will be done and I hope these young people are proud of themselves - this is such a rip-off......... PLEASE BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
