IMO It Is A RIPOFF!

POSTED: Wednesday, June 20, 2012When the value of gold is about $1600 per ounce and the actual gold value for 1 gram of bullion is currently $51. I think these things should be disclosed, instead of just showing pictures that makes it look like a big gold bar. Shame on PropertyRoom and shame on the people that do not check out what they are buying. Maybe I'm just jealous that I didn't come up with a good way to rip dumb people off. Oh thats right, I actually have some moral!

POSTED: Monday, June 04, 2012Give me a freaking break. You think we're all 5 year olds here? Instead of the garbage marketing text you just posted, how about some factual information to back up your business conduct?
You said the shipping charge is what you're charged for shipping? Oh really? You mean you pay more than what I pay when I only ship one item where as you ship hundreds a day? Hmm, I sense dishonesty here.
Yes, your shipping charges are a totally rip off. There were several occasions where I thought your shipping was so high that I thought it had to be an error. The response I got was that it was based on the dimensional weight of the package. For your info, dimension weight only comes into play if you exceed certain size. You even claimed this for the small items that don't exceed this. And even when it does exceed it, it should not be double or triple the norm.
OK, now let's talk about the pick up charge? Is that really reasonable? To pick up a small electronic (with no heavy lifting) it's can cost anywhere $6.95 to 9.95 (at the time of writing). I remember it used to be a flat $4.95 charge early on and now you got awesome scheme to get more out of this.
In any case, when you guys just started I thought it was a good site to buy stuff thinking it's really from recovered stolen goods but as time progressed the site has turned out to sucker people in thinking this. Most of your products are probably from a garbage landfill.
People: Stay away, you can get better products/deals else easy. (((competitor's name redacted))) is on a click away. At least with (((redacted))) there's some accountability here.
sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company, ..plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome. CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report. In this case we removed an alleged competitors name

PropertyRoom.com is not a scam

POSTED: Wednesday, March 21, 2012The best place to start might be to give a quick overview of Property Room as a whole.
A former Long Beach NY detective, Tom Lane, founded our company in 1999. We conducted our first online auction in Feb 2001. In the last 10 years over 2,800 law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and other municipal departments have contracted to do business with us. Over time, we've expanded to work with a select group of liquidators, auctioning these items side-by-side with municipal items, most auctions starting with a $1 opening bid and no reserve.
As for the more specific claims:
Property Room takes the delivery of any auction item very seriously, and we strive to ship all orders within 2 business days of verifying payment from the winning bidder. Once payment has been verified, Property Room then ships our items utilizing Federal Express and the USPS. Any rates charged for shipping are based on the rates charged to us.
As for the claims being made about our coin auctions, Im not a coin expert and it would be foolish for me to enter into a debate with anyone about the specifics mentioned in the post above. That being said, the manager of our coin department IS a coin expert and spends hours every day meticulously going over every auction to ensure the accuracy of any information being listed.
What we cant control is the final selling price of our auctions. We start the majority of our auctions at $1 with no reserve price, and our customers determine what the final selling price will be. While I understand that the person who made the above post might get frustrated by seeing items sell for a higher amount than they were willing to pay thats not something Property Room has any control over. My advice would be to continue to search the website, as we have hundreds of new auctions going live every day, and there are always deals to be found.
Ill be the first to admit that we arent perfect nobody is but when we have a customer service issue, we take it very seriously. Our in-house US-based Customer Support team is dedicated and passionate, and I just don't buy them ignoring anybody's complaints.
Anyway, you don't need to believe me. Obviously, Im offering a biased viewpoint here. We've had over 100 media pieces done on us via TV, radio, magazine, newspaper and online. Check out this page on our site and follow the links so you can get input from someone other than me:

You can check-out some of our law enforcement and municipal clients by going to our About Us/Company Info page. You can also watch a short video there. Click here:

As I tell people who ask me about Property Room: we sell stolen goods on the internet. Obviously, we do so in partnership with law enforcement, but for understandable reasons this raises some eyebrows. Shop with us or not. With thousands of auctions per week and an unpredictable mix of new and used goods flowing into our warehouses, we inevitably get some unsatisfied customers no matter how hard we try to please them. But if this long response has not made it clear, we work hard to build trust and convey the legitimacy of our operation.
